1. Hails to the sanctuary of Arckanum! What´s new? How are the preparations for the “Antikosmos” going? If you have already recorded everything, what was it like? Did you have any complications?
Hell. I’m done in the studio and it went really good. Some technical problems of course but that is standard. The album came out very dark and grim, a bit creative for being an Arckanum album.
2. Many of your fans must have been thrilled and delighted. How are you feeling after such a long time? Are you nervous? Do you feel suspension from the others?
I’m feeling pretty confident and eager to unleash this beast. I have so many projects all the time so I never realize that years pass by, it feels like I released “Kaos Svarta Mar” last year. I have received much feedback and people seem to be excited over this release. They will not get disappointed!
3. What do you think about the upcoming material? Can you somehow describe it? How it is sounding? Where do you seen progression etc.? Your music is better with years, can we expect similar melodics like on “Boka vm kaos”.? And what about rhytmics on the album?
I would call the new album heavy, dark and grim-sounding – a mix of my old full length albums and the MLP “Kaos Svarta Mar”, and of course a touch of my new inspirations and creations. My progress lays in my magical working and understanding, and that affects the lyrics. I think I also brought new ideas in writing these songs and the sound of the album.
4. And what about the lyric themes on Antikosmos? We can see that after the studies of old runic language you decided to rewrite the majority of lyrics. What the scripture and it´s implications means for you? By the way how you mastered pronunciation?
I have worked very hard with the lyrics, I’ve studied the runic language and its grammar so I could write and read it correctly. The pronunciations are pretty good I guess, I’m not sure we know today exactly how the Old Norse people pronounced everything; much like the Icelandic language I guess. All the lyrics are homage to the dark anti-cosmic gods of the Old Norse religion; I have deep understanding in the Thursian essence and have been working for many years with the Giants and the dark wrathful Chaos powers, so you could say that ANTIKOSMOS is my legacy of my Satanic workings.
5. Why the long pause between the Kampen and the new album? Will your musical expression sound differently now?
Many factors lead to this long pause, but mainly I lost interest after the retards at the American label that I was signed to earlier during the 90’s ripped me off totally. After that I just took my magical workings more seriously than creating music. But now, one thing lead to another, and here I am. My sound might be a bit darker and fatter.
6. Not a long ago you decided to re-release your first demo “Trulen”. What is your relation to this release? Do you feel nostalgic? Are you still satisfied with this release? Do you think that it is still strong enough?
I am very satisfied and proud of this demo, and as it has became somewhat of a “cult” item, I thought it would be good to release it with some bonus songs from that era. I also planned to do this during the 90’s but it never happened. Trulen will always be good and strong.
7. I know that you started as a drummer. Are the drums still most important for you? On which Drum set are you playing? Are there some drummer which you honor as your inspiration?
I play drums every week as I am the drummer of the very active band The Hearsemen. I play on Tama and Sabian, always have. I was kind of brought up with Tama-catalogues because of my rock-drummer father. A lot of drummers inspire me, but Billy Cobham and Simon Phillips have always been my main drum influences.
8. „ The existence of Arckanum is almost 15 years long. Do you still enjoy just sitting down and playing on your guitar?
Yes, but I’m not a guitarist, I don’t sit much having guitar-orgies…
9. What are your musical inspirations? I must say that you have a sense for “hit” melodies…What are you listening to?
Oh, almost everything. Much thrash and death metal, old jazz and swing from the 20´s and 30´s, rock and so on. I use to say “good music is good music”.
10. Gnosticism is a way of escape from material world, a way of shattering materia´s shackles. What do you think where the way of freedom leads? Through the spiritual evolution, transcendence?
Pure Chaos – the very end of the cosmos.
11. Almost every religion has it´s own negative deities (Kali, Set, Satan) as you probably noticed during your research, which are symbolizing the destructive, negative element, and they are usually a duality with the mighty demiurg which is also a part of their pantheon. It´s not hard to notice that those chaotic entities, independently on the place of their worship, have a many similar attributes and abilities. How do you understand the cultural approach of devil? As a isolated mighty, intelligent entities, or just the symbolic expression of one archetype. (As stated by C.G. Jung)
As a Chaos-Gnostic the weak demiurge is the negative and weak one, and Satan is the positive and strong god. Satan-Lucifer is the highest principle of Chaos. I am his devoted son and worshipper.
12. You are the supporter of the deity Pan, what that means for you? You can tell us something about him. In the past this entity was differently pictured many times. With which appearance you most identify? There is a theory, that the Christian illustration of Satan is inspired by his faun appearance.
“Pan, the untamed beast in demon-shape, which strolls restless around our woods and mountains, or rather, coils, levitating through our filthy cosmic galaxies, as a burning dragon, laughing relentlessly at the creation of cosmos. Pan is the one who ignites the torch of Lucifer, which brings forth the black flame. Pan is the one who creeps up behind, sprinkling gasoline on ones back and flicks sparkling matches at you. Not because for the fact that he hates you, but just to get one's attention… to get you to wake up and for once, take your existence or subsistence seriously. When you have succeeded with that, then your work as a magician can start – a magician who imposes masterwork in black Chaos magic. For this is what black Chaos magic essentially is all about, to feed ones inner, develop and to transcendent into Chaos. Whether Chaos exists in ones mind, or beyond cosmos is irrelevant at this moment, what is important is ones awareness as a Chaotic individual, a human in black magical possession.” – From my book on Pan: “Panparadox: Pan Towards Chaos”, which will be released this year by Ixaxaar.com. Please read further about my authorship on www.vexior.se.
Yes, the Christians stole his form as the stole many other attributes from sundry religions (did you know that the word “Hell” is taken from the Old Norse underworld of the dead called Hel?).
13. Do you actively concern yourself with occultism? What are your biggest ritual achievements?
I am an active Satanist, my work is every day.
14. Do you also experiment with astral projection, OOBE, Lucid dreaming? What do you think about the approach of modern science which look upon the parapsychology like some delusion of human brain.
I experiment with astral “journeys” all the time. The human mass will never accept the belief in the spirit as a singular individual. They only “believe” when they need help from their god.
15. We´ll stay at the racional approach pf modern science. Newest researches in quantum physics with bound to transpersonal psychology ( Czech native Stanislav Grof could be called as a founder) slowly but safely starts to infirm the traditional Newton-Cartesian understanding of world and it also starts giving bigger importance to man’s mind, which starts to emancipate from the point of view as a simple outcome of biological operations in human brain. But now it is contrariwise more close to the understanding of the “Black flame” as it is in Chaotic Gnosticism. Do you concern yourself with parapsychology? What is your own approach to it?
I believe strongly in the black flame which lit my spirit and gives me guidance.
16. You came from Scandinavia, from Sweden particularly, so what is your relation to the ancestral religion of your ancestors, Odinism? I know that you have a special relation with Loki.
Odinism is a worship of the Æsir; the gods of the light. For those who don’t know, Oðinn is the demiurge, they compare Baldr and Tyr with Jesus and Þor is the savior of their holy heaven. They have nothing to do with the dark gods and satanic powers; they are the light of heaven.
I am deep into the Old Norse religion and have been for many years, I have studied the Old Norse mythology and sagas intensely. And I worship the Giants/the Thursian powers as the anti-cosmic essence; the dark wrathful powers. I worship Surtr (Satan) and the Muspel-Sons! I worship Loki (Lucifer) and Baningarna! I worship Gullveig-Angrboða (Lilith) and the Jarnviðjur! I worship Hel (Namaah)! I worship Fenrir, Garmr and Hati! I worship Jørmungandr and Niðhøggr! I worship Þjazi!
17. Thanks for the interview and I wish you luck in your music, life or esoteric… Last words are yours.
