Interview with Control Human Delete

1. Hello CHD! You are relatively young group, on Error Spectre you showed how you burst with ideas and skills. Your Full-length album quickly became my most favourite album of the year. What are the reactions of people around you? And how are you satisfied with it after a brief period of time?

Thank you for your positive remark. I think the critics have been really positive concerning the release of TWP. But still the scene for our kind of music is quite small which results in very little shows a year. I think for an average metal-head our music is maybe a bit to exploring and still it doesn't reach a very big audience at this point. Still it is very good to get responses from a lot of people all over the globe who really dig our music, which is great I think. Big thanks for those people...

2. I also noticed the distinct industrial progression on your novelty. You took advantage from your 4-years long break into writing of a new album, or you were doing something else?

Well maybe we are a bit slow on writing new songs. But that mainly comes that we try to involve very member in the writing process because it is our philosophy that in that way only we are able to create songs who are really CHD... it is not one person driving CHD but 5 individuals who have separately there influence on the music which ultimately results to the feeling we hope people get when listening to CHD. Beside that we all have other occupations as well...

3. It is possible to view on your myspace a amateur filming from your gig. I guess that means that you are playing live actively. Question is, how frequently? I also noticed that you have a new member. Are you planning some tour this year? If yes, please tell us with which bands the tour will take course and if you will be headlining or supporting act.

Yes we are playing live... only not very frequently, though we really want to but unfortunately there are too little possibilities as I mentioned before play live. Indeed we have a new member , quite a while already. Frank Schiphorst was initially added to our live line-up because we needed a second guitar player for live shows. Frank seemed to fit with CHD pretty good and came up with some awesome ideas very quick, so we thought it would be a good think for CHD to add him as a full member. Yeah so as a said no touring in front of us at this point... unfortunately.

4. Gigs with industrial touch need to have a good sound. But this is often a tricky issue. Coordination of band members is also important. How do you prepare for you live performances?

Play tight! which we do. But your right it is really important to have good sound on stage especially the drums, which are electronic, have to be clearly heard on stage... Still I think we always manage to bring the music as we want to, also according to most critics received from the audience.

5. I just have to ask. Are you interested in playing in Czech republic? Does the visit of our country attracts you? Or have you even played here?

We always have an open mind on those kind of things. It sounds really awesome actually... we have never played in countries like that and I'm quite curious how people react on our music. So if you know some possibilities....

6. Back to the music. After the first encounter with Error spectre it was evident that you have a big potential. Who stood with the band during it´s birth and what made you to play this specific genre? I guess that you were inspired by some well-known industrial bands.

The biggest turn in our music was, according to me at least, when Spectre joined the band in late 2000 I think. He came up with the industrial ideas which together with the other band members slowly evolved to what CHD is at this point. We would never deny that we have been influenced quite strong by the somewhat new wave of black metal from Norway with bands such as Satyricon, Emperor, Mayhem and DHG. But I think we have overgrown that point right now and CHD is digging more and more its own way.

7. Frequently discussed issue on the album are drums. So fast drumming is not usual. It is created solely by drum-machine or real drummer was involved?

No real drummer was involved during the recording of TWP. The drums are programmed Spectre and Pulse. We also don't think we are going to work with a real drummer in the near future as well.

8. If I read properly, your lyrics are dealing with the evolution and gradual destruction of everything living. Are you trying to describe the dark and pessimistic vision of future? What you personally think that the world will become? Are you awaiting the end of the world or it is just a tool to release yourselves from wicked images and ideas?

Well, I kind of that for everybody who writes about those kind of things the latter counts. Still I don't think you write about those kind of things if you don't think there is some nature of truth in it. The most important still is that it is dealing with something that fits the music you know... I mean if you create dark music which is an emotion as well, same as being in love, although some people would deny that, there eventually evolve lyrics who fit that feeling. Personally I think the lyrics are not meant to convince people of one thing nor the other, it is merely meant to open minds... to maybe have a little thought our doubt about the things you hear, see and maybe pushed in you pi hole by media and other stuff.

9. Is your music influenced by films? Do you like films like War of worlds or End of days? Or you are better choosing different genres?

Not especially... we all are big fans of Jeff Wain's war of the Worlds though, his music is pretty wicked. Well let's see... I most like the weird sci-fi stuff I think.

10. Try to name one or two musical persons with which your would like to cooperate. For example do some music together or perform together live.

Pffew... hard question. I think it is quite difficult for us at this point to cooperate with somebody, we have never thought about it. Maybe in the future who knows.

11.Your web site looks really great. And that is not all! Cover art of your Cd is also great. I see that you care about visual interpretation. Have you made it by yourselves or someone helped you? Are you interested in cooperation with some well-known graphic artist or photographer?

That is not really up to me... I have my opinion about it of course but all the art stuff is done by Spectre, it is his profession. As for the pictures in the cd layout, they are made by Jurgen Specht who was kind enough to let us use some of its awesome pictures.

12. I’ve noticed two interviews on you website. Does it mean that this is you third interview or you just have not inserted other interviews on your site? Is the cooperation with journalists good? Do you enjoy interviews? Do you also read your album reviews?

No... we did more interviews, I think the website is not so up to date at that point then. I think the cooperation with journalist is pretty good. I think they are really important especially the interviews which is a good opportunity for us to get some publicity and say our thing.

13. We will stay with reading… Please name some writers and books you consider as fundamental. Or tell us which kind of literature you enjoy.

I don't think there is something fundamental for everybody... it depends really on your interest I think. As for me I'm quite hooked to the science kind of related books... those kind of things I find really interesting and fascinating, where most of the inspiration comes from as well.

14. Now about your future plans. Could you describe how is the work on the new album proceeding? Will Frank Schiphorst take his part in writing of music? I am especially interested how the production will sound. Will you stay under Code 666 or have you thought about label change? I guess that you must be really satisfied that you are under such label.

Yes we are currently writing for a new album for which Frank is writing as well. You might expect a little musical change I think, although it will always stay CHD. Can't say much about the production actually... the things we are doing sound and feel really good and I expect it going to veolve more and more until every fits into place for a new album. At this point we really don't now if we will stay under code666... as I said we are always open for every possibility .

15. I don´t want you bore to death so we will end this interview. I think that we discussed everything important so I just have to say thanks and the last words are yours…

Thank you very much for your time to put this interview together... much appreciation. And for everybody out there, maybe we will see each other in Czech republic!
