1. Hello and welcome back to live. What is the background of the comeback of AUTUMNBLAZE? Did you miss the cooperation between band members, or the band itself? Or, was your head full of ideas that just had to be recorded?

None of those you mentioned. One word brought us together again: Friendship. The friendship between Arisjel and me was violated about many years due to personal reasons. But sometime we recognized that friendship is stronger than the pain of our past. That was the turning point. And in the end I’ve noticed that the real Autumnblaze just consists of Arisjel and me, noone else in this magic circle. Music and lyrics came later.

2. Hm, it looks like that friendship means so much for you… Am I right? But it’s true, friendship is the only thing which will survive until death will take us.

When all our friends are dead before we die, friendship could be the big tragedy of our lives. So let’s hope we won’t die alone.

3. Would you describe this as a regular comeback that brought the band to life again, or is this a short episode, made just to record the CD…? Has the band any future plans already?

Well, I would describe it as the comeback of the true Autumnblaze line-up. I’m sure we’ll do more than one album. We even talked about the concept of the next record. It will take a while but we’ll come back.

4. AUTUMNBLAZE started its existence in 1995, it is already 14 years now and that‘s not little. You have noticeable changed during these years, not only musically but also as people. What would you say about it?

I can only speak for myself and of course I have developed as a person hopefully. In my inside heart I’m quite the same, struggling for something I cannot grasp in words. With Autumnblaze I was experimenting a lot in the past but now it seems that a circle is closed and I have found a bit peace. I’ve recognized that Autumnblaze is a metal band with some strange sideways and not an alternative band.


5. According to what I have heard from the new CD ”Perdition Diaries” it seems to me as it is the most varied recording you have made. I have read various definitions of your music, but it was not difficult to get lost in them: On one hand the albums composition is harder (for example ”Neugeburt”), but on other hand also very soft (for example ”Ways”). What do you think is the reason for this style diversity in music of AUTUMNBLAZE? Except for you have grown up as personalities, etc.

That’s a quite simple thing. Arisjel has written the lyrics this time and I have written the music later. So I had to follow the lyrics musically and that’s one of the reasons why we have so different tunes on the album. The other reason is that we wanted vary, we wanted to give listeners more than just a piece of the same style.

6. Have you sometimes unwittingly tried to use some characteristic elements for Sidewaytown in music of AUTUMNBLAZE?

No, never. Of course I have my specific style in writing harmonies and songs but Sidewaytown is so different from Autumnblaze that there are no touching points.

7. Do you think it is easier for the listeners when the album has a firmly set structure, or is it easier when it offers all kinds of surprising moments? Aren't you afraid, that „Perdition Diaries” will surprise some people too much?

No, I’m not afraid. Maybe some people will hate the album. But that’s not our problem. We have written the album for ourselves and those who look deeper into the Autumnblaze cosmos. We would have done a higher step in our career if we did more structured albums, but we are not AC’DC or Motörhead. We are the knife in your wounds.

8. If you are not AC’DC or Motörhead :), try to tell me, what groups have inspired you through your musical years?

In the early 90ties bands like Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Dissection, Anathema, My dying bride, Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates, In Flames, Desultory, Edge of Sanity and so on. But also non metal stuff like The Cure, A-Ha, This Empty Flow.

9. Let's now make a closer look at „Perdition Diaries“; is there any idea that fills the whole album from its beginning to its end? If we are not talking about a conception, but rather about feelings, thoughts and connections which the listener cannot find/see during the first listening. ..

There is a concept. As I mentioned before Arisjel wrote the lyrics and what I can see is that “Perdition Diaries” is a very personal album in the first place dealing with loss, haughtiness, death, love, friendship, family, birth, hope. It’s somehow a purification. As a listener you have to find out what the lyrics mean to you. That’s very interesting.


10. Well, that’s what I meant. Anyway, how about artwork of album? Who is the creator? Is connected with the story inside or not?

The artwork was created by myself. As I am a graphic designer it is my duty to do these kind of things. The artwork is not connected with the story directly but symbolically of course.

11. Is music of AUTUMNBLAZE made only by ideas from your heads or also by some special personal experiences from your life?

The music just flows out of my head. But in my head there are so many experiences that I really can’t say which experience makes me pouring out this kind of music. It’s a subconscious process and I try to just let the tunes flow like I said.
