Hi and thanxs! No I actually started to think about it a few years ago and it´wasn´t until 2008 I began to write new songs.It was only meant to be as a sideproject since I had no thoughts what so ever to leave Katatonia. It was of personal reasons I had to leave Katatonia. But I´m having a good time now with OT so I´m not complaining.
2. Year 2010 is approaching to its end… How do you feel after all the years on the musical scene? How many years ago you’ve started with OCTOBER TIDE? 15? Do you feel, as a musician, still greater passion? Do you sometimes have some kind of creative crise?
Yes it´s 15 years we started OT. Yes I still feel great passion for music. It´s my escape from reality and I need it. Of course I get uninspired from time to time but it usually comes back.
3. Connected question… Which way the new material has been composed? How much time it took? When you started with OCTOBER TIDE again, did you already have some ideas that you kept in mind after you left Katatonia? Or did you compose all the material together with the new colleagues?
No I wrote all music myself since I didn´t have a band at the time. My wish was to record a new album but if that would happen or not I had no idea. I had a few older riffs when I in 2008 began to write and when I began to write the songs where written in a flow.
4. Regarding your new colleagues in OCTOBER TIDE; the line-up contains 5 players right now. Was difficult to get the line-up into this final form? Are these team-mates the first you’ve contacted after the reborn, or did you think of someone else?
No it was quite easy to get the band together. I already knew Robin and Emil. First we used Johan Jansson(Demonical,Interment) as a session bassplayer but he´s so busy with all his other band so we asked Pierre from Tobias band in mourning if he was interested.
5. If you look back, do you think you’ve made a great job as a group? I suppose that in the new team-mates were a lot of enthusiasm, am I right? Was this positive even for you - to feel that fresh air around…? How satisfied are you with the album?
We are all very happy with the album, we all contributed and made it to what it is. It´s always good to play with new people since you learn from them and them from you
6. OCTOBER TIDE is actually the last band you’re playing in. Am I right? Can we expect that your existence will not end after “A Thin Shell” and you gonna make big things? If yes, what would you like to realize with OCTOBER TIDE in the future?
I´m also working on another non metal project, But not sure what to do with it yet. Hopefully we´ll continue with OT for a couple of more years and put out more albums. But i like to keep myself busy so that´s why I have another project. I also use to play bass in Emils band Mandylon.
7. OCTOBER TIDE are people who deal with other bands. Of course I have in mind a pair – Pierre Stam and Tobias Netzell – who also play in In Mourning. Is In Mourning a priority for them and OCTOBER TIDE means “just another” band? Isn’t impediment that OCTOBER TIDE have to conform their timetable (mostly in live shows)?
Non of the band are that much live active at the moment so I am sure that both bands can find time to do gigs without prejudice the other.

It´s as good as before leaving, we are still good friends. Yes, I asked Jonas a few times but he wasn´t interested. .
9. We’re almost at the end of the interview… I would like to ask you; are you planning some tour that might not miss Czech Republic?
We have a few gigs planned and we would of course like to play in Czech. Anyone want to book us so contact martin at dreamtide music.
