1. Greetings, Your albums have always been released within a period of one or two years. But now we had to wait three years since the previous EP. Have you lacked inspiration or the new album simply demanded more detailed work?
->No, I just took my time, I am in no hurries to do new albums, besides, I have some other bands and I do focus a lot on one of them which is Morte Incandescente. In fact “Luciferian Frequencies” could have come out maybe some 6 months earlier, but it took a long time to finish the mixing, was just never pleased with the first tries. One thing is sure, I do just work on music when I feel inspired, I never and will ever do a record just for doing it. So timing and feeling is crucial.
2. How long did it take you to record the new album? The production is very detailed and clean. Can you describe the recording process to us?
->Was basically 15 days in studio recording and doing finishing touches, most of the drums were structured in studio and all vocals also arranged there. Just the guitars that I had many of the riffs and structures done before I went to studio. This album is a bit “clean” as you may say but necessary to hear all details, still there is a lot happening that you need some more listens before you get into it all.
3. Unfortunately my promo package does not include lyrics. Could you please summarize the their content? Is the new album still so strongly focused on self-mutilation?
->The new album is about one opening his eyes to the world and inner soul. So try expand oneself to other levels of conciousness and above all to know you are all but one but in a vast complex mysterious universe. There is a twist to the record, that talks about another matter, but that I prefer people to try get the lyrics and check it themselves. I tend to not reveal so much, let the music and lyrics speak for themselves, see what is the reaction of the listener/reader.
4. Frequency is a property of sound and thus music. Can we understand the music of “Luciferian Frequencies” as an expression of something demonic/divine etc. ?
->As in very few can receive such frequency, or at least one needs to learn and expand to reach such frequency. Only then you can proceed to reach the next level. Divinity has to be gained, not picked up.
5. I guess the title as well as lyrics of the album are strongly connected with the emblem on the front cover. How should we interpret it? I would at least like to know what is the meaning of those Hebrew letters…
->Tetragrammaton, go from there on, find the answer yourself.
From God to Man.

6. Interesting thing is, that the first albums had a rather classic cover-arts with logo, some pictures etc. Front covers of “Rising” and “Luciferian Frequencies” are more minimalist, simplistic but good looking. Sometimes the less, the better, what do you think?
-->I think that each artwork has to reflect what I want to do with the music, and such covers do give a side to what the music is all about. But just because they look simple, does not mean the meaning is simple, just like the records themselves.
7. “Luciferian Frequencies” is your seventh album already. When do you compare the new album with previous ones what has changed for you? “Luciferian Frequencies” is very varied and well-composed album so I guess your are also very proud of the result…
->I´m not really a proud person, for what I do I do for a reason, as a mission, but I am of course as one with the record. It is a piece of what I am in spirit and I am sharing with people. Now if the people get it, well, that is another matter. The most obvious thing that has change is that I reveal more in between lines, I am eager to teach and to get ideas back, not just spit out words with no real meaning. In the beginning, it was all just a craving to do what I loved the most, but these last years it is indeed a mission.
8. One of the strongest aspects of the new album are your vocals. You are a man of many voices. Did you undergo any special preparations before laying down the vocals? Do you need some specific mind-set to unleash the vocal fury? Is there any other vocalist you admire and consider him or her to be your influence?
->My first 2 albums in the mid 80´s were “Somewhere in time” and “Them”, so I started listening carefully to music with two of the most amazing vocalists. I started singing very young and it has been a passion for me, and I do think that BM is not just screaming your lungs out, it needs certain tones and feelings behind each certain riff. Still I do no preparation for any record, I always record vocals as they come out, and in most cases it is at first take. My soul speaks for me through my voice and emotions.
9. By the way, when looking at the promo photos… You didn’t bother with corpse paint, why? I’m asking because when I saw photos from your live performances, the whole band had make-up…
->Corpse paint or no corpse paint, Corpus Christii is a Black Metal band, one does not need to always use a mask, I just do whatever I feel like. Besides, makes things more interesting or you wouldn´t have done this question.
10. In September/October CORPUS CHRISTII will go on tour with Inquisition, Revenge and The Stone. I guess you are extensively preparing yourselves for this tour. Who will help you out on the stage and which instrument will you play yourself? How many songs from the new album do you plan to play?
->We have been prepared for a while now, cos we have been playing quite a bit in Portugal, I think we will deliver great shows if the conditions will let us. Seems we will not have a steady sound engineer in the tour after all, so that worries me, cos I have been in venues where the sound guys know more about pot than sound but well. We will have the manager of Inquisition helping us out a bit also cos he is a local friend and also has been working for us. But all in all we have to do everything ourselves. We are not in a position to have roadies and this and that, we are as you can say “underground all the way”. I will just sing, that has been my role for a while now, I have 4 close people doing the remaining instruments, I rely on them to perform my music as I have written it and I do trust them to achieve that, at least they have so far. I prefer to just sing cos I go through rough emotions and hard passages than would limit my singing by far if I was to play an instrument.

11. On 26th of September you will play in Prague, Czech republic. What can we expect from CORPUS CHRISTII on the stage? Is there anything you think that makes your show special? By the way have you ever been to Prague?
->What we might be “special” from other bands, specially more recent well known BM bands, is that we are SPONTANEOUS, we do not program anything but the setlist, and that even sometimes I change on stage depending on my mood. We just deliver what we can and what energy we get back from the public. Corpus Christii has never played in Czech Republic so I am very excited by this, Prague is a place I have been wanting to visit for many years now due to its history. This will be mine/our first time, and I am sure you will get the real deal. We don´t fool around. But mostly depends really on our mood and how the public is reacting to the show.
12. The previous albums of CORPUS CHRISTII, were also released on tape. What is your opinion on this great format? As far as I know, Candlelight released the new album on the CD only. What about LP and MC releases?
->Major issue with Candlelight right now is precisely the fact they do not answer to our emails about these matters. To know if they will release a LP format or not, and if they give permission to a label to do a tape version, cos of course I want the whole 3 formats. I am a old school fella, I give big importance to vinyl and tape.
13. What are the future plans of CORPUS CHRISTII? Are you already planning new music and releases? Some merchandise would be nice as well…
->I haven´t come to any terms with writing new music, just do wat I am doing now which is playing live and do the best I can with it. In due time I think and start writing new music, until then I will just go with the flow. On the road we will have a “Luciferian Frequencies” tshirt and a tour tshirt from XS to XL and of course also our new album on CD format.
14. This is the second CORPUS CHRISTII’s interview for Mortem zine. Thank you for your time and as always the last words are yours… See you in Prague!
-->Hail Satan!
