1. So Hideous, My love … is a very interesting name for a band. It might seem decadent but in me it evokes the whole degeneration of the world and mankind, but by love you show there still might be something pure and not rotten. Am I correct or does it mean something completely different?
Originally the name came from a Dario Argento Film. It’s appropriate because it incorporates the extremities of an individual, which is what our music portrays. The name is written as though it’s part of a hand written, and inevitably discarded letter to someone. Overall, it’s great people can look at the name and consider a personal meaning, as appose to just considering it to be some shitty side swoop hair band that can be easily forgotten, cause that’s the polar opposite of what we are.
2. Combination of Ambient, Hardcore and Black metal is a bit unusual. Which ways and experiments led you to this direction? Which band has had the greatest influence on you?
It’s interesting; going into this band I was focused on death metal, and black metal. I was in a death metal band called “Regain The Heart Condemned” and a band with my brother (Brandon Guitarist/Composer) called “I’d Burn in hell to keep you safe,” which was an ambient/post rock project, where I played drums, and our other guitarist (Etienne) played bass. My brother, who writes the material, is highly influenced by classical, shoe gaze, black metal etc. I guess when writing this material, there was a lot of influence from Classical Music, Modern Day post rock, and Black metal. But over all, we play what ever feels good. Bands that rock, Heaven in her arms, Celeste, 1349, Envy, Mono, Amen Ra, Death Spell Omega. Composers Arvo Part, Beethoven, Philip Glass.
3. Your last album 'To Clasp a Fallen Wish with Broken Fingers' includes new songs so as the old ones from 'I Balance a Daydream on the Edge of a Knife'. The difference between them is such evident in the sound so as in the overall concept. Why did you include the old songs and didn't used just the new ones?
Not a lot of people even knew we had a previous release. It was done with a slightly different line up, the material is good, but we’ve progressed dramatically since. It was good to throw it in there as a “Look what we did before” type of deal.
4. There is a tree in the fog at your album cover. The fog reminds me the winter days in my hometown when we are plunged into inversion and cannot breath properly. Can I see any message under this cover or is it just a pretty picture?
The tree reminds me of that early morning road trip, right before the world becomes chaotic. It’s an appropriate cover. Its very Tabula rasa, in that, you can make ties to it depending on your own personal view.
5. Unfortunately I haven't read your lyrics yet. Could you tell me what they are about?
Each song is part of a story. For me, the words that are written portray the inner most sanctified motions of thought. In “to clasp” for example, the end of the song repeats the title. For me, this is about my, your, his, or hers, need to hold on to hope, even if it seems pointless or unattainable.

6. I am very sorry we can't get much information about you on the Internet. Besides MySpace (which is not updated), I found only a couple links leading to your new album. I hope you are planning or even creating an official website and that you will update the MySpace. (Laughing)
We have a website through the play the assassin webpage. Type sohideousmylove.com into your browser and it comes up. We also have a Facebook, and a MySpace, perhaps updating the MySpace would be a good thing, even though its pretty much dead to the world.
7. What about some gigs? Are you going to tour? I'd be happy if you visited Europe and directly the Czech Republic.
WE WOULD LOVE TO TOUR EUROPE. Right now, the idea is getting thrown around. We’re looking to do a tour of the states first in promotion of the EP and then work on our full length. After that, who knows? A good amount of our feedback is from Europe, particularly Russia and London, I will now add Czech Republic to that list.
8. Couple days ago all of us could remember on the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks. You are from NY. How did it affect you? What do you think about this events? Does it reflect your music?
It was a tragedy. A lot of innocent and not so innocent people died. To say your not affected by it is a lie. 9-11 reflects our music the same as someone climbing to the top of a mountain would, or a man staring at his reflection in disgust, or the feeling of a first kiss at a prom, or finding a friend rotting away, or having the jittering feeling of eager hope, just to be let down. Humanity is really our inspiration, we’re interesting creatures, we hate, we kill, we love and create.
9. What are you plans for the future?
A lot of stuff….. writing new material, shows, merch, Just keep an eye out.
10. The last question: Would you like to say something to your fans or the people in general?
Thank you for your time and this pleasant interview.
Everyone who has checked us out, bought the album, and came to shows, we want to send out a huge thanks. It means a lot to us that you can relate to our music.
