1. Hello, last year you appeared with Arkona and other bands on the concert in Brno...do you like this concert? Do you plan another visit in the Czech Republic?
The concert itself was just satisfactory due to many problems. Of course we were satisfied that we could present our music to foreign public and if there is an opportunity to appear in Czech Republic again we will certainly do that.
2. When we see your first demo I Spokoj – Furia was only Nihil and music was more melodic than on the next demo. I feel there influence of one brain and its style. What do you feel about this demo now? Where do you recorded it?
Nihil recorded „I Spokój“ at his own homestudio during winter 2003/2004. We think that this material is very important to the band, although now we rehearse hardly any tracks from it. It is obvious that today Nihil is not completely satisfied with the final effect he achieved, and I presume that one day parts of first demo will be recorded again.
3 „I Krzyk“ is for me more raw and I feel there influence of more people, but I´m sorry that there are few songs. Can you compare your two demos, each of them has certain its merits and negations...with which feelings you recorded, when Nihil wasn´t just only by himselfs?
The progress which can be heard between our two demos is mainly the effect of musical evolution of NIHIL himself. Of course final arrangements were discussed by everyone involved in FURIA and chosen according to our preferrences. By the way I cannot ignore other members‘ contribution to the process of creating music for FURIA either. These two materials are difficult to compare because they are just different and they can be considered as levels of natural FURIA’s progress.
4. On the demo there is also cover from Arkona, I suppose you are good friends, what do you mean about Arkona´s music now?
When we recorded „Skrajna nienawiść...“ we wanted to pay some kind of a homage for this cult band we used to listen to when we were young. After recording I Krzyk I started to cooperate with ARKONA as a drummer and it was some kind of ridiculous coincindence that after recording their cover I started to rehearse with them (and FURIA appeared as their support act on Apocalypsa Fest Vol.VIII). Anyway we are not friends anymore (we never were) but I am against speaking about someone behind one’s back so I won’t tell anything more than that. Khorzon (I think) knows my attitude towards the path Arkona have chosen.
5. First concerts came, was concert with Furia for anyone of you the first one in your live? Do you like live performances and what about cooperation – is good?
FURIA’s members are the core of another polish black metal band called MASSEMORD with which we have performed few concerts so far. In fact we are quite familiar with the stage, so the concerts are solid aspect of both bands. I think there is no other place where we feel better, because it is the best opportunity to express emotions that stands behind lyrical themes and of course our attitude towards life – so we try to appear live as much as we can. Cooperation is not important if everyone does his best..
6. I think your music is very original...what´s your inspiration? Can you name some bands and music genre you listen to?
In the beginning the strongest influence on our band had old norwegian ones, especially old ULVER, KAMPFAR and TAAKE. Now things changed a bit, we try to follow our own direction and create music which truly expresses ourselves without any refernce to other bands. We are not (and we never were) aware of modern black metal trends and we are beyond any musical or political scene (we don’t care whether our music is called black metal or not). There is plenty of genres we are listening to and it is senseless to stress it in here.
7. There are many people who are interesed in your music theme. What do you sing about, what do you admire in your lyrics?
The lyrics are about destruction of man and our hatred towards human kind but it is not typical, trendy, modern anti-human attitude. That’s why lyrics are also different. They are very emotional, metaphorical and because of that very difficult to understand as a global organized concept that FURIA’s lyrical themes in fact are.
8. Give you your language larger possibilities by writting lyrics? I´m lucky, that you don´t use english and that you go your own way....:-)
Well, it is really hard to explain why we decided to use polish language. Of course it is because that we are patriots, but the main reasons are not so obvious (on the contrary MASSEMORD’s lyrics are usually in english). FURIA is a band tied to its local origins but not in the historical meaning. This soil has created everything that stands behind concept of FURIA and our language allows us to express it more freely.
9. And what about your plans for the future – are you going to record debut album or do you plan cooperation with other band? If yes – which label you want to publish it by?
We are not planning to cooperate with anyone (though there were few proposals), because ideological and lyrical aspects of FURIA are parts of the global concept I mentioned before. We want to record our debut album this Fall but it depends on reactions we‘ll gain from the labels.
10. What about line-up? Do you plan changes in it or is this line-up good? Is nowadays Furia same as it was on absolutely beginning?
I can’t say that we are the same people we were few years ago but certainly there is no need to change the FURIA’s line-up. We are consequently following the path we have chosen at the very beginning and nothing seems to change.
11. I know, that you also played in Arkona, what about other members? Do they devote other bands or even their own projects?
As i said, every member of FURIA is involved in MASSEMORD and these two bands are the most important to us all. Nevertheless during all these years we were also engaged in other bands (but these were rather short episodes) or side projects (that mainly Nihil is responsible for composing music for) which express wide variety of our inspirations. The most important are NIPHATES, QUINTESSENCE OF HATE and one more which still remains unnamed.
12. Have you got any top music aims, which you would like to reach – as band or as individuals? Or are you satisfied with current situation?
I think that there is no point in thinking of aims when the main FURIA/MASSEMORD‘s lyrical theme stands against the future itself – we just don’t care about it. When we created FURIA or MASSEMORD none assumptions have been made. It is quite normal that we’d like to release FURIA’s debut album (and some more of course) and give as many concerts as we are able to perform but beyond this metarial values there are few things more relevant to us.
13. What do band memeber do in their personal lives and what are their hobbies? Do you have any common hobby, are you true friends?
We are not friends, actually we hate each oher, haha. Everyone has hobbies but what’s the point in mentioning them here? Our individual, ordinary life has its influence on our mental condition and this is the only aspect worthy of telling about. Read the lyrics.
14. You are our neighbours, so what do you know about our scene? Do you like some bands in czech history? Did you visit our country in other case than on the concert?
Among others subjects I’m studying Czech language so I know a lot about your country and I’m quite often visiting it, and because of the fact that we are interseted in BM scene we know some things about it either. Anyway there is not so many bands which we are willingly listening to.
15 So, its all...thanks for your time and readinnes to answer our questions. Good luck in your music and personal lives!
Let the world burn! Bring us to Czech Republic again!
