1. Greets in Germany! Few days ago your new album „In Hora Mortis“ was released. Have you got any reactions on it now? Positive or negative...

Well, the CD has been released since a few days only and until now we got a little feedback. Mainly from friends who got some songs in advance. Other people that know the songs from our Homepage send some really positive feedback now and then. I think this will continue...

2. Now you are known body, your albums are also expected and „monitored“. Did you feel at make up your new album any pressure, expectation?

The only people on this world that can give us any pressures are inside the band Zarathustra itself. I think that some fans out there have high expectations from our new album, but I think they will get an overdose of pure, traditional black metal, NON SERVIAM BLACK METAL, to say precislier.

3. „In Hora Mortis“...what was changed from your last album „Perpetual Black Force“? Are there any new elements, or you stay in groove?

You should not forget that we also have released the "Contempt" mini-album in 2005. We almost left all Thrash Metal elements but got a rougher and colder atmosphere on "Contempt". This was the beginning of a new era for Zarathustra. Now we improved these steps and "In Hora Mortis" is the final result. You can expect a lot of weird, dark and cold atmospheres.

4. Your songs are original with common guitar melodies. It is some identification sign of Zarathustra. Did you have in this respect any inspiration, or is it clear your „know-how“? ;)

I think it is a mixture of both. We cannot tell any inspiration; too much out there and to tell only a few influences would be like limitation of ourselves.


5. In October your new album is going to release also on LP. Do you plan any increases or it will be the same album as on CD?

It will differ a lot compared to the CD-version. First 250 copies will have a poster included, embossed silver print (logo and title) and different paper. Unfortunately no bonus-tracks are featured.

6. In August M.Ghoul and Desecrator left the band. Could you tell to our readers reason, why they left the band just in case of recording new album?

Well, M.Ghoul left the band because he was unable to reach the next level for and esp. with Zarathustra. Desecrator suddenly left due to other important things in his life. M. Ghoul even did not enter the studio for the last recordings; all guitars are played by Kerberos.

7. On your web you have also dare, in which you appeal to relevant interested person to join to band. Do you have someone in finder?

Until now nobody is found. We will put the band on ice until the end of the year and then we will start looking for some interested people. After working with new members we will be back to attack!

8. You cannot make live performance because of incorrect line-up. Also it's out of the question live support new album. So, what do you plan instead of it to the end of this year?

As I have told, nothing will happen until the end of the year. It is of course a fucked-up situation right now. But we need some time to get back to our old strength. Of course, it is shit as we have to promote "In Hora Mortis" live on stage. We just do a lot of interviews and promote the album as best as we can.

9. You release by Agonia Records. It is Polish label. Why you unselected one of many German?

Agonia Records have shown the most interest in Zarathustra. Furthermore we think they give their best for us.


10. Last albums were released by Undercover Records. Why this change? You weren't satisfied with work of former label?

Well, Zarathustra was treated beneath worthiness a long time enough. No bad words towards the Undercover-headquarter. We just wanted to reach a new level and this would have been impossible with Undercover Records.

11. Last two years you appeared in our country two times. Once on Open Hell Fest and then on independent concert. How did you feel in our country?

Well, unfortunately we just played one time in Czech Republic. It was at the great Open Hell Fest (R.I.P.). After visiting that great festival since 2001 it was an absolute honor to me to play on the stage. It was a great experience and one of our best gigs (musically seen, but the crowd was maniacal and possessed, too). I visited your country 4-5 times and it was always great. We hope to play sometime again, of course.

12. More and more bands concentrate on visual support of albums. They record video-clips, better, worse...Is Zarathustra going to something similar? Maybe not, but if you should thinking about theme, which is it? By the way, did you see K.I.N.G. from Satyricon? Very funny, Heh...

Nothing like that is planned. I think if we ever would do something like that you will know it as soon as possible. It must be dark and brutal, cold and insane...

13. On which music you grew up? Did metal reach out you already in puberty or just origins of black metal, or something else?

I listen to metal since more than 15 years, everything started when I was 12/13, of course with the usual bands like Iron Maiden, Mötley Crüe, Metallica, followed by Sodom, Kreator, Sepultura and such. My first gigs I have visited in 1992 and 1993 (Grave, Bolt Thrower, Vader). We used to have a quite big metal scene in my area and still it is (Hellbangers Moselfranken). I got into Black Metal in 1993, while some absurd things did happen in Germany. It was great watching insane black metal acts like Desaster, Occult, Mayhemic Truth in the mid' of the nineties.

14. At present I relishing album „Stab Wound“ (it's really successful album) from your „colleagues“ Dark Fortress, do you know their creation? How do you look up to German underground, new bands and generally products, which present Germany in last years?

No, I don't know that album. Actually I have had just listened some older songs of them that are too uninteresting to me. German scene has a lot of quality bands, but most bands of the scene are absolute shit. I still follow the scene after all those years, I am still running my zine "Hellpike" (since 7 years now), and so I still got much response from the scene. Unfortunately, on one killer release you get 298 shitty ones.

15. Today it's quite trendy thing to create profile on MySpace.com. What leaded you to it?

Well, just to promote the band a bit, that's all. We don't care about trends anyway or what other might think about us!


16. About Germans is in our country trades, that they cannot behave. I was also a few times witness of it. Whether in some restaurant, or in train, bus...They behave so masterful and unconsiderate. Tell us, if it is the same also in your country, or citizens of your country have this impulsion only in abroad, eventually in Czech Republic.

Well, I think you are right. Germans do behave like pieces of shit. But I think it is not specified to one country, as shit comes from every country. I think, still many people (not only Germans) see Czech Republic as a poor country, which makes them maybe feeling so masterful. In the end, it is out of my interest, because it is a matter of you to allow such behavior or not, you should beat those people!

17. Do you interested of policy between Czech Republic and Germany? If yes, which opinion do you have on Beneš´s decrees?

I know what you are talking about, but I am absolutely not interested in shit like that, nor do I think it belongs to a metal interview.

18. The name of band is inspirated of philosopher F. Nietzsche. Do you and other members of band like his philosophy? What this person means for you?

Of course we like his philosophy and feel comfortable with his writings. It would be absolute bullshit if we can't identify us with his writings. But we are not devoted to him. Nietzsche in persona, he was a quite dangerous thinker, ahead his time and dynamite for all stupidities of mankind.

19. In my opinion Nietzsche´s philosophy don´t create nothing, what can by named compact system. His books are consist of wild paradoxies, attacks, invectives, boasts and tags. Is it really suitable for you? And how much you study his theories?

You are right, Nietzsche's writings don't have a compact system, but it is not needed as his philosophy consists of many naturally resentments and angriness towards everything that is "stupid" and weak! Of course, his writings are suitable for us and for our lyrics. We have read a lot of Nietzsche and about Nietzsche and we can say that his name/teachings don't get abused by us.

20. Nihilism – position of absolutelly deprecation. Which position has Zarathustra to it?

A quite positive one – but we don't deny ourselves.

21. It´s everything from us...We certainly wish, that you new album has success and we hope, that you within relevant tour visit also Czech Republic!
