Daemon Worship Records znovu rozniesli nové morové rany na Zem, tradične s niekoľkými novinkami. A znovu hovoríme prinajhoršom aspoň o zaujímavých kúskoch. Z nich som si na posúdenie zobral dvojicu, z ktorej jedna je mnou veľmi očakávané splitko medzi dvomi, veľmi rešpektovanými projektmi - americkými NIGHTBRINGER a nórskymi DØDSENGEL, pomenované ''Circumambulations of the Solar Inferno''.
Nemyslím si, že tieto zoskupenia treba nejako zvlášť predstavovať, ale spojenectvo medzi týmito neuveriteľne originálnymi a vo veľa smeroch nadradenými (v ich žánri) bolo niečo, na čo som sa sakramentsky tešil. NIGHTBRINGER s ich ''Hierophany of the Open Grave'' bol jedným z najlepších albumov v roku 2011 a DØDSENGEL s ''Imperator'', ktorý rozprtil všetku opozíciu v 2012, sa tentoraz spojili, aby priniesli na svet tohto netvora.
Prvý kus, nazvaný ''Watchtower of the West: Gate of the Mighty Dead'' v podaní NIGHTBRINGER sa začína rozbiehať po intro pasáži (zhruba 2:30 minúty do skladby). Pomaly naberá na sile, až sa ukáže v podstate typickej forme, akú táto kapela produkuje, ale musím povedať, že svojou atmosférou mi skôr pripomína sesterskú kapelu – Besta Arcana. Avšak v porovnaní s touto kapelou mi príde o dosť menej chaotická. Veľkolepá hymna, ale osobne, klenot tohto splitka (a pre mňa asi najlepšia skladba od NIGHTBRINGER) prichádza po nej. ''Watchtower of the North: Ascension of the Midnight Sun'' je absolútne dokonalý kus black metalového umenia. Dovolím si tvrdiť, že sa jedná o dosť priamočiaru skladbu, pôsobiacu až chytľavo, čo je možno dôvod, prečo sa mi až tak páči. V porovnaní s ostatnými skladbami od NIGHTBRINGER mi príde veľmi jednoduchá na počúvanie, čo nemusí vyhovovať ortodoxným fanúšikom tejto hordy, osobne ma ale trha na kusy. DOKONALOST!
Tu prichádza čas na vypočutie toho, čo nám v druhej polovici nahrávky ponúkajú DØDSENGEL, svojou prvou kapitolou nazvanou ''Watchtower of the East: Horus Sunflesh''. Kapela pokračuje na podobnej ceste, akú môžeme počuť na ''Imperator'', tým mám na mysli, že ich hudba je okorenená akýmsi starovekým východným vplyvom, prevažne odohraným v strednom tempe. Táto časť splitka má hustú okultnú auru, ktorá doručuje úplne rozdielny dojem, ako ten od Nightbringer. Definitívne treba viac času na jeho pochopenie, avšak výsledok je veľkolepý. Zatiaľ, čo je prvá skladba až návyková, ''Watchtower of the South: Drunk Upon Inmost Fire'' sa ponára hlboko do pekiel. Presahujúc vyše 10 minút, je táto skladba presýtená nenávisťou a negatívnosťou. Na opis hudby tejto kapely človek potrebuje až nadprirodzené schopnosti. Toto si treba vypočuť, nechať istý čas na to, aby sa vstrebala a vyklíčila (špeciálne tato skladba). Nepovedal by som, že DØDSENGEL priniesli niečo prelomové (v rámci svojej tvorby), ale udržali si svoj štandard, ktorý už dávno nasadili vysoko pre väčšinu kapiel hrajúcich black metal.
Ako to teda vyzerá s finálnym verdiktom? Ak to niečo znamená pre obe kapely a label, som určíte spokojný. Prekvapivo, NIGHTBRINGER prišli so zaujímavejším materiálom, ako som očakával. DØDSENGEL je pozadu, ale len o kúsok. Po pravde, je tu len jedna vec, pre ktorú by som si dovolil sťažnosť. A tou je kvantita skladieb. Viem, že teraz asi zniem ako nenažrané prasa a možno by viac skladieb zruinovalo koncept tejto nahrávky (ktorej dĺžka aj tak presahuje 30 minút), no napriek tomu cítim istú prázdnotu po tom, čo jej posledné tóny dohrávajú. Možno je to dané tým, že dve zo štyroch skladieb sme mali možnosť počúvať už nejakú dobu a tým sa cítim ukrátený (nejaky sampel by v prípade MCD a splitiek vyhovoval možno viac). Verím ale tomu, že nebudeme dlho čakať na ďalšie obety v ich podaní a budem určite tam, keď k nim príde.

English Summary
Daemon Worship Records have once again unleashed plague upon the Earth with their several new releases and as it is common for this label we are talking about very interesting pieces. I have decided to pass judgment on two of them, one being a very anticipated (by me) split between two very respected projects – American NIGHTBRINGER and Norwegian DØDSENGEL - entitled ''Circumambulations of the Solar Inferno''.
I don't think these bands need much introductions but conspiracy between these unbelievably original and in many ways superior bands(in their genres) was something I was looking forward to badly. NIGHTBRINGER's ''Hierophany of the Open Grave'' was one of best releases in the year 2011 and DØDSENGEL's ''Imperator'' crushed all opposition to dust in 2012. And now these beasts merged to deliver this abomination.
First piece called ''Watchtower of the West: Gate of the Mighty Dead'' performed by NIGHTBRINGER starts to build up after intro (which is approximately 2:30 long) and later reveals itself in quite typical manner of this band, but I have to say that its atmosphere reminds me somewhat more of related band – Bestia Arcana. In comparison to this band it seems bit more in order and not so chaotic. Great hymn, but for me personally the crown jewel of this release (and I might say personally maybe best NIGHTBRINGER song) comes after. ''Watchtower of the North: Ascension of the Midnight Sun'' is absolutely amazing piece of black metal art. I would dare to say that its very straight forward and actually catchy, which might be reason why I like it so much. Compared to the classic songs of NIGHTBRINGER it may seem as easy listening, which might not be in liking for the orthodox devotees of this horde, but I'm personally blown to pieces. PERFECTION!
Time comes to check out DØDSENGEL's half of this release, with first chapter called ''Watchtower of the East: Horus Sunflesh''. Band continues in similar path as we could hear on ''Imperator'', by that I mean that music is spiced by some ancient eastern influence, played most of the time in mid-tempo. This part of split has thick occult aura which gives totally different experience than that of Nightbringer. It definitely takes longer time to understand them, but the result is great. While the first song is almost addictive, second one ''Watchtower of the South: Drunk Upon Inmost Fire'' seeps deep into the abyss. Stretching over 10 minutes, this incantation is soaked with hate and negativity. For describing music of this band one needs almost supernatural powers. You need to hear it to understand, and even then you must let time for it to be absorbed in and see it blossom(especially this song). I would not say that DØDSENGEL brought anything groundbreaking(within their discography), but they’ve kept their standards which are raised higher than those of the most black metal bands.
So what about the final result? If it means anything for both bands and label, I'm definitely satisfied with it. Surprisingly NIGHTBRINGER delivered more interesting material then expected. DØDSENGEL is lacking behind, but only slightly. To say the truth there is only one thing which I can complain about. And that is the quantity of songs. I know that I sound like greedy ass now and that more songs would maybe ruin the concept of this release (and despite over 30 minutes of their total lenght), however I still feel some empty feeling after it's last tones are fading away. Maybe it's because two of four song were available for streaming for the long time already and that's why I feel yearning for more (better idea might be in releasing samples, instead of full songs in case of EP's and splits). But I do believe that there isn't long time till the next offerings and I’ll be there when they come out.
