1. Greets Alex! Uff, I must own up, that I feel great, if I create questions for Ashen Light. You belong to these bands, with them I always want to realize interview and if there are no rumours about your visit in Slovakia and Czech Republic, I would still think, that Ashen Light no exists! So, my first question is, how it looks now, in the future of Ashen Light and on what could fans look forward…?

Greetings. I am a little bit surprised having learned that many think that Ashen Light more not exists. At all is not present!
On given the moment we are in studio where we finish a new album. I shall not speak much about it, I shall tell just it there will be something unusual but also during too time all the same Ashen Light.

2. „Pesn Velesa“ is for me one of the most marked hoar-stone of Russian pagan/black metal scene. If we look on creation in 1999 and 2005, we can find marked diference. It could be caused also of changes in line-up, but practically you left all pagan metal „ingredients“, lyrics you reversed towards satanism – simply you are black metal band…characterful black metal band! By which way will your creation proceed on? Can we expect changes against „Prichaschenie Ognem“?

Ashen Light initially was and will be black metal band. After split in 1999 group at last has found itself. We began to play for the sake of what were created. The new album will be some kind of continuation begun. In texts and music it was possible to express most really our ideas, emotions, experience and the concept. To texts it has been paid very big attention, and in the musical plan an album more sated.

3. It impose me, that you give in ordinary albums little „freshness“ like it was so for example on „In Accomplice Suffering – Conviction Is Hell!“ Are you going to make something in this style in the future? I mean, that there could be pure acustic, or slightly ambient album…

I mean, that there could be pure acustic, or slightly ambient album You understand, having listened to any album it will be possible to tell with ease that it is work Ashen Light. In a new album a lot of interesting experiments, but also it will be easily learned by our listeners.
In general in plans for the future there is a desire to write down ambient album, but time will show.

4. Ashen Light is band with very authentic sound and round positive reactions on creation (I speak in view of our state). Do you know, how you stay in Russia? „Competition“ is just there very strong.

We do only that that we think both anybody and anything us will not force to change it. Not important where do you live also that think also to you and your works- The main thing to be fair and are not afraid to state the ideas. Music for us first of all means of dialogue.


5. What album you regard as pivotal for Ashen Light? And which do you like mostly? In view of musician is it always little different…:-)

In view of musician is it always little different I probably while have not written down the best album. With each album you become more skilful, You find mistakes and in the further them you do not do. Naturally record Means.

6. In that days, when english rules all world and many bands depart to this language, only that they would be more accessible, you don´t do that. Native language offers more methods for expression or you go simply naturalistic way?

It is very complex to translate ours of the text on other language. While translating much is lost. As much as possible emotionally to express the ideas it is easier on the native language. Let others sing on what want language, Ashen Light will sing only on native.

7. Do you draw from all creation on live performances? I hint at that fact, how sound for example songs from „Pesn Velesa“…

The program of our performances includes songs from different albums, " Pesn Velesa " not exception. Yes, this album as though has no anything the general with the others, but it very much is pleasant to much.

8. How it is in the question of labels? It´s clear now, where will new album release?

While there are negotiations with many labels and to speak on this theme while early.

9. Are live performances important event for you own? What it means for you? Do you like that intensive controntation with public? Do you mean, that warpaints and varied sheathing appertain to black metal and put the finishing touches to atmosphere…?

Concerts it is rather healthy! We often act. It enormous energy: fury, angrily, a pain, fear, All feelings interwine and force will incorporate executors and listeners in a single whole! If all will turn out that we by all means we shall arrive in the summer and we shall act in Slovenia and Czechia.


10. Am I wrong, if I say, you are patriots? Love to motherland is reflected very often also on musical outcome, because many bands draw from national folklore or base lyrics of historical themes…

Any of normal people is the patriot of the native land. It is natural it is shown in music, texts, behaviour. And we not exception.

11. What about you and christianity? I´m intrested of you opinion on religion in general…

The religion is destiny weak. On this question the answer to a new album " the God is dead: Death - the god! ". It is devoted to this theme.

12. What place to live is Moscow? Certainly there meet varied strata and in some quarters must go exactly about survival. Though this is Moscow at sight beautiful metropolis…

I prefer to noise silence and rest.

13. This year was released EP „Blond Fire“ of your „private“ project Divizion S-187…Could you tell us something about it? What can we in this case will be pleased on?

Divizion S-187 it is attempt of association of two various cultures: black and techno. Madness - opposite. In following year there will be an album, and " Blood Fire " there was a breakdown. It was interesting to me that listeners will tell. Divizion S-187 often acts. First listeners are in perplexity - that this such? But then full madness and all hall begins starts to be cut!


14. Do you attentively note Russian black metal underground? What about new bands? Does anything assumed you? What can you recommend us?

It is a lot of groups, many have time to give pair concerts and collapse. To advertise whom or I shall not be. My opinion will be prejudicedly as I know many personally. Though here for example Drama - very good group, I recommend.

15. Could you trust us with your favourite bands (not only metal) and eventually also with everything, what ispirate you to creation (literature, films or music…)?

The life is constant search and everyone should test and try all.

16. How old were you, if you decided, that you will attend to your instrument? Can you play also on any other? Were anyone your ideal in youth?

On a guitar I play from 13 years, also not bad I play on shock and the piano. But the best tool for me is certainly the guitar!

17. Autumn is high and slowly, but surely sends winter word, and it´s especially in your country very hard. How do you tolerate Russian frost?

Russian frost? It is difficult to Me to explain it. I live in Russia and winter the best time: a snow, a frost, night and billions stars in the night sky, Silence and rest. An empire of an ice. Hoarfrost pricking cheeks. All this is difficult for describing, it should be seen and felt!

18. What I want…it was said. I wish good luck to Ashen Light with present of new album and I cross fingers in all, what is good for you. I hope, that we meet in Slovakia and certainly in the Czech Republic!
