1. Greets in country, which is „enslaved“ by melodic death and black metal. Not long ago we welcomed New Year and did you got yourselfs some resolves? Maybe as to band, maybe classic (to stop smoking, lose weight ;-))? How do New Years celebrations go on in Sweden?

Hravn: My New Year-resolves are to grow as a band/musician, release a second killer album and of course to be a great fiancé!

Beuwolf: Take it easier with the booze. And to grow as a musician.

Throllv: To grow as band/musician.

Well, in Sweden at New Years Eve almost everybody gets drunk, throw up and falls asleep before midnight.
A very unserious way to begin the new year.

2. Last year you celebrated also four year since bands foundation. It´s hard to assert in so copious number of bands, which is moving on Swedish scene?

Rimfrost: To be honest we haven`t thought about it that much. We have never heard a band from here that plays the very same style we do. Not exactly our style. If we have played the so called „Gothenburg Death“ style it has been hard as hell to get heard, because there are thousands of bands out there copying the originals. And to be honest, we have never heard one of those copying bands be good and that‘s the result of being to much mainstream, you suck!

3. Production, which is created by Rimfrost, is some combination between a new era of Immortal and suppose trashcore music at the head of a Lamb of God. You verge to the first named, but tell us, what just trashcore means for you?

Rimfrost: Never heard of that expression before.
But we love thrash metal and to mix it in to our sound. It is so fucking „fist fight“ over thrash metal, really good aggressive feelings you get when you listen to it.

4. Sound on last EP „A Journey to a Greater End“ and debut „A Frozen World Unknown“ is very aggressive and it´s also good stroke. Gainst lyrics handle about cold, darkness and gloominess. How it´s going together?

Rimfrost: The music is filled of anger and also the lyrics.
The most hateful/aggressive parts of the lyrics we place on slow heavy riffs! It is a very powerful combination and the message goes out in a more effective way. We like to work that way.

5. „A Frozen World Unknown“ took in studio only six days, it´s really not much with a view to technic aspect of your music. Give us instruction, how it´s possible to record so fast so technic successful album?

Rimfrost: Yeah, we work fast.
The drum parts took around three days and then we recorded the guitars and bass on two days, the last day we recorded vocals and keyboard parts. We think that if you work in the studio for to long the songs easily gets overproduced.
You twist and turn on the material til you don`t know whats good or bad. We know what we want before we enter the studio, and then we records it as fast and necessary as possible. Our music is very technical but we handle it great, we have rehearsed a lot throughout the years Rimfrost has existed, so we don`t have a problem with that at all.


6. You come in on inner space of black metal public and thence it follows some „troubles“ by recording. Did you feel a press on you? Some need to show, that Rimfrost are deserving?

Rimfrost: No, not at all.
We do what we think feels right. We don`t consider ourselves as a true black metal band and we don`t want to follow some rules in how music shall be played. We already have the Norwegians and they handle it great. We don`t bother about the things like „Hey, you can`t mix in that or that because then you aren‘t true!“
As long you are true to yourself we say!

7. What I feel somethimes bad on your new album, is overmuch lenght of arrangements. I think, that there are places, where you should made songs half-lenght, but more aggressive and strong. Album would have more songs and fresh sound. I don´t say, that is your aim, but what do you think about it…?

Rimfrost: It`s just the things we are going to do with the next album, shorter songs but stronger!
As a listener we have understand that you could get bored after a while, if the songs are too long.

8. „A Frozen World Unknown“ decorates extensive lyric component. Is only Hravn it´s author? Do you have first lyrics or you compose just in complete music?Are they in a form of abstracted, story, philosophical, or?

Rimfrost: Hravn writes mostly all the lyrics but on the album Beuwolf has contributed with some lyrics to. On the next album Hravn and Beuwolf will write together . We always compose music first, then we write lyrics we think fit to the song. The lyrics is very philosophical and they reflects our thoughts of the world very much.

9. You are very young, in this year you will be 20 years old. Though you dominate on your instruments. How long do you play?

Hravn: I started playing guitar in 2002, but I started for real in 2003 when we got a rehearsal room. I have learned very much from Throllv and he is, in my opinion, the best fucking guitar teacher you can get! So I`m in on my fourth year as a serious guitarist now.

Beuwolf: I have played just for fun in a couple of years, but I started for real when I was asked to join the band. I have played a lot with Hravn and Throllv before I entered Rimfrost as a bassplayer. So I have learned very much from these guys. I also played as a live guitarist in Rimfrost 2002.

Throllv: I started playing drums when I was five years old, but I started playing this extreme metal in 2002.

10. What is your parent´s opinion on Rimfrost? You start to go on tour, you will go abroad, surely you work hard, do they support you?

Rimfrost: Yeah! They support us alright. They are real metal parents!


11. Tell our readers, how it was managed to such youths sign on for German label No Colours Records?

Rimfrost: We sent them the song „At the mighty halls they`ll walk“ and they surely liked it. They told their deal and we liked it.

12. You changed bassguitarist before recording debut. Why did you do it and how are you satisfied with line-up now?

Rimfrost: It was personal troubles involved. But also very many missed rehearsals and we got tired of the shit. If not all work hard in the band the weak link must go.
We are very satisfied with the new line-up. For the first time ever our bassplayer is writing music and lyrics and it feels great!

13. You, Hravn, play on guitar and herewith you are vocalist - it is hard combination by live performances, especially, when you overchieve technical riffes. Isn´t that combination somethimes complicated for you?

Hravn: When I learned to play guitar I sang (growled) while we rehearsed so for me it feels natural. But we do create faster and more technical riffs these days and I`ll have to practise a couple of times to get it right. Sometimes it would be nice to have a singer so I could concentrate on the guitars but I`ll have to carry the burden so to say. Hehe

14. You are surely satisfied with good responses on music quality of Rimfrost. Tell us, which bands inspirated you to that music style? Which leaded you at the beginning and which today?

Rimfrost: In the very beginning it was bands like Dimmu Borgir and DarkThrone (and many more Norwegian acts) then we discovered Immortal and their great sound. It was then we started playing this extreme and technical style we play today. Today we like thrash very much like Vio-Lence to Iced Earths dark atmospheric thrash/heavy metal.
We think Iced Earth has an awesome playing style and Jon Schaffer is a fucking genius.
We also love traditional heavy metal like Accept and of course King Diamond!

15. Classic question - warpaint. Do you use it as heritage of other black metal band, or does it have for you any further special meaning?

Rimfrost: In the beginning it was a really classical thing to do. But it`s a way for us to show our demonic sides, to get in the right mood. Fuck them who thinks war-paint is „out“, they can take their fucking fashion-philosophy and go to hell with it! The paint has to do with the music not a fucking fashion wave, like what`s in or what`s out today in the metal world.


16. You have prepared on next album minimally two new songs. Some bands debate question, if they would go somewhere on, or they should stay and record next album in the same style. What way do you go in the future?

Rimfrost: In this writing moment we have composed four songs and one is under writing process.
In some ways it reminds about the debut album but we have taken a big step further on, in a great direction.
The next album will be awesome!

17. Could man say, that you are misanthropes?

Hravn: I wouldn`t consider myself as a fully misanthrope, but I really hates people when they gets to much! I love visiting the woods were I live live and I love being with my fiancée alone. For me it`s my friends, the band, my fiancée and my family that matters..

Beuwolf: I can not call myself a misanthrope but I don`t like it when there are to much people.

Throllv: I can`t stand to much of people. What`s important to me is my wife, the band and my family. I don`t really care about the rest.

18. In some interview I read, that you prepare on new album viking motives. Why did you decide to go from darkness and glommines to Vikings? Help our readers to find continuity.

Rimfrost: We are very wide as musicians.
We have always been fascinated by the nordic mythologi and it`s a very powerful and mighty thing with vikings and the way they choose to live their lives. But we are not a viking band and we don`t want to paint ourselves into a corner or something like that. We will reflect mostly over the viking peoples views and thoughts about life and death. It`s a interesting subject. We will still have the darkness and gloominess in our lyrics.

19. Immortal had on you surely big influence, did you hear to Abbath new project I? And what is your opinion on return of Immortal?

Rimfrost: Yeah, we have heard it... and we liked it. It`s great! One of our dreams is to support Immortal on a tour or a live gig.
We hope they`ll make a new album in the same hard vein as „Sons of northern Darkness“.

20. You have interesting opinion on satanism. Could you tell it also Czech fans?

Rimfrost: We don`t believe in anything called religion or satanism. Use your own fucking brain and don`t follow a book with rules how you`re going to live your own life.
Look what`s happening in the middle-east. They kill eachother because they can`t agree wich of their fantasy figures is the right „god“. Religion kills people.
And when we writes about „hell“ in our lyrics we don`t mean it as the opposite of „heaven“, we mean the real world we live in! „Freezing Inferno“ is about a thing we totally support and thinks the human race deserve; the judgement day. When everything dies and everything stops. It`s the most fair way to end all things, because the shit this world exist of will never stop, it`s only getting worser for each day!


21. Could you describe your homeland - Hagfors? What interesting can we find here, what can you recommend to visitors.

Rimfrost: Well, a small city with only 15000 inhabitants. A really fine place to live if you think of the nature. Big woods and beuatiful lakes. There are not so many things to do here and that´s why we found the band. One interesting thing is the watchtower in Hagfors. In the year 2002 when we started out Hravn and Throllv went there and wrote : „We will return as black metal masters“ and our autographs under the „contract“. What we meant is that one day if we`ll leave Hagfors we will move back on the autumn of our lives and die there knowing that we has fulfilled our contract so to say.
This is the first time we ever reveal this little secret of ours. So check it out if you are around.

22. Do you know something about Czech Republic? Any bands, customs...?

Rimfrost: No, we are not so familiar with Czech bands. We know a friend who listens to many bands from there. But it´s great to know that you guys over ther play and support black metal and of course metal in general!

23. What do you plan on year 2007? It´s all before you, only advise with it. Do you agreed any concerts or summer festivals?

Rimfrost: Our plans for the year 2007 is to record the second album and get a our name out. I think we mostly concentrate on writing materials and do much for Rimfrost to spread our music. No live gigs is planned and we are serching for a new rehearsal room for the moment.
We are lucky that we have rehearsed around five times a week in four years, we are pretty thight as musicians and that`s our saving when we writes music now, without a rehearsal room. But that`s not a really big problem, we have found a rehearsal room in Borås were Throllv lives at the moment.
