1.Greets in France – land, which is in the last time producing really quality records. Do you agree?

It might be. Maybe that, finally, Europe realised that France is existing. Or is it the fact that the quality of the rest of Europe seriously dropped.

2.„Par le sang, le feu, et le fer“ and „Whirlwinds of fire we ride“ - your two first-fruits was released in time, which you mark as „Early Shitty Years“. Should I take it so, that you are ashamed of this two records and debut is for you just „De Aeternitate Commando“?

We’re not really ashamed. But this is the reality, our first two releases are far below the „real“ beginning that is „De Aeternitate Commando“. This record represent exactly what we wanted to do at this time, compared to the sound, the compositions, the arrangements... Anyway, everybody must begin somewhere.

3.Between „De Aeternitate Commando“ and „Diktat OmegA“ went on only one year. Instead then we experience fourtimes longer pause. Four years is a long time. How yould you describe progress, which went ahead just between „DO“ and „DoR“?

DAC and DO are very close because we had enought songs to record both albums in a very short period. Some songs in Diktat are even older than some in Commando. That was not the same way for Doxa.
We changed our line up, our label, and also our way of composing songs.
This is what it took us so long, find a gifted lead guitar player (and we finally found him) that fits perfectly to our way of life, and find a new and motivated label (Aura Mystique).

4. Not long ago your new album „Doxa o relevatioN“ were released. It connects on „Diktat OmegA“. Tell us, what mean big opening and finishing words?

Where do they conenct together ? They are pretty different, I guess. Dikat omegA is a finishing point in the life of CRYSTALIUM, and this is clearly explain in a text on the last page of the booklet.
Doxa some kind of new beginning.

5. You take pleasure in really aggressive and devastation serve of your music. In the time, when many groups pass from this sound to slowdown and to more technical sound, you are band, which though clearly progress in compositions stays attached to unreal rates and aggressiveness. It suits you, isn´t it?

Maybe this is what can describe the style of our music. Yes we are really at ease in these fields. And it’s mostly because of K.Altar. He’s the one who gives us the rythm.
However, fast and violent music is not the first objective while we write a song. But at the end, when the whole song is finished, the result is awlways extreme. Because this is what we are, and the way we live. These songs are the reflections of our lives.

6. Didn´t it depend you, that you on older albums more fooled around with melody part of Crystalium?

We do not plan anything. Maybe the first albums are more „rigth in your face“, but this is a natural evolution. I think that the melodies in DoR fits perfectly with the riffs. We havn’t done this in the past because we found that the songs were perfect like this. I think tha, now we want to give more emphae to our songs.


7. On „Doxa o RelevatioN“ it depends me, that sound production is maybe too raw. And how large part do you attach to drums? They are very high on the new album…

This is the choice of the band, and we’re all happy with the final result. Some people find the sound of the drums too high, but we don’t care. This is the way we wanted to be.

8. I appreciate, that you sing in your native language on the new album. Does it mean for you larger space to expression, self-fullfilment? It happpens, that music underdrawes text – go aggressiver lyrics with more aggressive melody?

French is, by far, the best tongue for our music. Yes it gives us more aggressive way of singing. And this is also the best way of transmitting our emotions.

9. By song „Discipline Nation Negative“ I must remember on band Keep of Kalessin, which evokes me this song (and not only this) in some moments…

Strange comparaison. This band is interesting, but has never been an influence for us. Personnaly I like their Mcd „Reclaim“, that’s all.

10. I hope, that Crystalium live must sound great, but how do you compose it as musicians? To play all set in maximum possibly rate…

This is what took us so long to release our new album : find guitarists that can play fast. Now Kra Cillag is only concentrating on the vocals, and we have a second guitarist. A line up like that hallow us to play as fast as on the albums.
A Crystalium gig is the best moment to show the world that K.Altar has never cheated on the albums, he‘s able to play even faster on live performance.

11. I think, that covers of Crystalium´s albums are based on similar basics, do they have any continuity (maybe distant)?

DoR took us almost a year to complete the booklet. We’ve worked together. It might be some kind of „continuity“, because, since the begining of the band, everything has been done by the band. And we only do what we like. I think this is the best way to work, it hallows us a real control of what is done.

12. How are you thereon with black metal as listeners? Do you like music, which is similar with your – fast, aggressive and technical – or do you like also listen to that atmospheric, slowly and monotonous part of black metal?

Crystalium is a very eclectic band. And black metal is not really the style we mostly use to listen to. But are our musical influences really important ? Even if they have an interference in our compositions, the final result is still black metal, and still extreme. So we have no particular style of predilection.


13. Could man say, that you are orthodox black metalists?

We do not judge ourselves like this. I’ve nothing against such term, but it’s important to say that we play only what we like, and what we feel. But we are orthodox in our lives, we are still extreme, and this is far from being the end. We are following the lines of our existences driven by the chaos, and our music is following us.

14. Because we are black/pagan metal webzine, I will stay by that pigeon-holes. What music scan do you have in the band? I think, that to whole BM spectrum spoke records „Om“ – Negura Bunget, „Fimbulvinter“ – Kroda, „Sworn to the Dark“ – Swedish Watain and also „Apocalyptic Doom“ from Polish Thunderbolt. Did you listen to that records? From France I would underline great Obscurus Advocam and Peste Noire.

We’ve played last week with negura bunget, that was a very interesting gig. I personnaly enjoyed the more „tribal“ parts. And I’ve got a video clip from them, it’s original. They have their own style. For the other bands listed above, I know them a little, but not that much. I’m not listening to black metal 24/7.

15. What are your plans in the future?

Raising Hell.

16. Do particulare members live near by oneself? Or is cooperation harder?

Crystalium needs an implication that you can only have if the members are focused on the band. Crystalium is a group which required a certain fanaticism. We live close to each other, and do not need a rehearsal pretext to meet.
