1. Hail, Ipes! Reverence are quite less known band, so it wouldn´t harm to say what are Reverence standing for and what do you want to accomplish.
Reverence exist since 1998. After some demos (the first one was made in 2001 and the second one in 2002) , then 2 splits cds have been produced, „Decorporation“ with Blut Aus Nord in 2003 and a second one with Wolok in 2004.
The first album is out since 2005, produced by Deadsun Records, and the next album will be available in few months (october, november,...) produced by Avantgarde Music.
2. Your new CD "Chamber of divine elaboration" will be released soon. Judging by the myspace samples it will be a really powerful mental atack. Debut "Industrial mental concept" was sounding quite humanly, but such progression... I really praise this, but please entice us with your words even more on new album.
This album isn’t an extension of the first one, because it is a full work and each album is and will be unic.
“Chamber of Divine Elaboration“ is in an urban spirit way, away from the classic way of black metal actually, the atmosphere is more developped and such different.
We work with modern and experimental sonorities, it’s useless to compose a classic black metal album, all ways of this have been ever used, so we prefer to devellop our own vision of the musical art.
With some songs, there is a musical movies advance (like Infra-Code of Perdition, White Journey.Inc, Pride of Inanimate Emptiness.....) for this new album.
Reverence plays a contenporain black metal music with its own visual and performance, from this way Reverence cant‘ be classified with black metal bands generally, and Reverence is a black metal band but with his own definition.
3. How did the recording proceeded? Have you spend your money on expensive studios or did you make it out with computer at home? What about cooperation with some other artists?
„Chamber of Divine Elaboration“ have been recorded at the Drudenhaus Studio by Neb Xort (Anorexia Nervosa) and mastered by Xort as well at the Masterlab Studio.
We first are working on the atmosphere through guitars, voices and industrial/ambiant parts, the production is adapted to these songs actually, Xort made a great work. We haven’t payed for this recording, we are signed by Avantgarde Music, so Avantgarde Music haves managed it.
I’ve guest a friend, KK ( the singer of the band Trepalium), for a featuring on the track „Astral Noise Projection“, he gave a great atmosphere and actually have had such great voices performances.
4. Split of bands Blut aus nord, Karras, Bloodoline and Reverence of course came out recently. It´s your second split with blut aus nord, do you know musicians from BAN personally or you communicate with each others through the internet? Well we could find some musical nexus between yours present sounding and the sounding of these mentors of mentaly bleak Black metal.
We don’t think like you about some similitudes between Reverence and Blut Aus Nord. Each band haves his own sound and atmosphere.
5. There isn´t too many bands sounding like you, but could you name a few artists that influenced you in some way? Is there some Artist that would be a honor to cooperate with?
I would be interested to cooperate with bands and projects like Axis of Perdition, Ulver, Darkspace, Neurosis.
The influences are very differents, like movies/video games like Silent Hill for example or psychologic movies, spirituality, observation, classic music, life in general...
6. Recently many great albums are coming from France, have you noticed this stature? But mostly we read from interviews that French BM scene is horrible. Do you feel like as the part of the scene and if yes what do you think of it? Can you reveal some less-known bands that are producing good music for you?
It‘s very „frenchy“ to be negative about his own bands and his own scene or others, so it’s not a wonder what you have read..
Many albums are great and made by french bands, I think at Arkhon Infaustus, Deathspell Omega, Blut Aus Nord, Nehemah, Trepalium, Gojira...
7. In the past the Reverence were a full band, have you ever played live? Well, now only with two people it´s not possible, but have you ever thought about session musicians?
First, Reverence was a solo project for many reasons, but with the time, A line-up have been constitued. In 2004, Aym integrates Reverence as bassist and his first performance like this state was with the first album „Industrial Mental Concept“, and since some months, V.R is the official drummer of Reverence and play on the „Chamber of....“ Album.
Reverence never played live, but maybe, if a special performance would be possible, Reverence will play on stage, I don’t know...
8. Although Reverence are making negative music for most (For me it is a incredibly beautiful music). Do you personally feel as a negative person? Or do you enjoy the company of friends, love?
All feelings like love, hate, friendly, stress, fear, desire... are indisociable of the human race, everybody needs it. Those emotions are differents for each persons, but everybody knows (from his own way) those feelings. Feelings are the first motivation of all human action, so it’s the same for everyone.
9. I will write a few terms and I would ask you to write down your opinions about it.
Reincarnation: The human race don’t know if the reincarnation is a reality, but to have Faith is a human way, it’s hard to imagine an eventual reincarnation, its an abstract suject because we can make supposition only...
Übermensch: The biggest human fantasm... Everyone have something special, just everyone haven’t aware... but nothing like „ubermensch“...
Hell: A mental projection only, an image for this world..
10. I´ve noticed that you and Aym are playing in other bands than Reverence. You both are playing in Pagan Eternal for example. Does it differs too much from Reverence? Introduce it to us please.
Yes, that’s right, but Pagan Eternal is splitted since 4 years... this band was a brutal and fast black metal band (like Marduk, Funeral Mist, something like that), totally different from Reverence, we have evolued like musician and personally as well, it’s far away from us...
11. What music do you like? I guess it is not just Black metal and ambient. What are yours musical favourites?
Industrial music, classic, jazz, blues, experimental, music of movies...
12. That´s all from me, thank you for your time that you bestowed to Mortem zine and in the ending you could tell us about the future plans of Reverence and send word to our readers...Salut!
We working about the third album. Maybe a special live show, but not sure for the moment...
Thanks
I.Luciferia
