1. Greetings, Agonia records released your new album called „Redesekration“ some time ago. Dou you think that Infernal War realized the expectations of their fans? Are you louder, faster and more murderous? Try to look at this from the independent listener’s view …
Well, I can’t tell you if we met the expectations of any fans since it wasn’t our purpose. We just wanted to please ourselves and so we did. Don’t misunderstand me; it’s good to see people appreciate your work and receive support from serious individuals, but we don’t care about anyone’s expectations while composing new stuff. I guess some people expected to hear another “Terrorfront” and those ones might be a bit disappointed. In my opinion, “Redesekration” is our best release to date. It’s definitely more murderous and intense, but I don’t think it’s faster. Of course, the album is very fast overall, but we don’t aim at being the fastest band at any cost. Personally, I think majority of those bands that try to be as fast as possible is terribly dull. Anyway, I think “Redesekration” is a real fist in the face.
2. The style of till this time released albums is very similar, what could be expected, obviously. Do you think if you hold to these ways you’ll have a chance to hold an attention of your listeners? Or are you planning any surprises?
Each our release is a bit different from the previous one, but they are all in the same vein. I don’t consider Infernal War an original band, but I think we managed to create something that could be called our own style. We do what we want to do. We progress at our own pace and our another release will be definitely a bit different from “Redesekration”, but we’re not going to change our music drastically just to surprise someone. We do what we want to do and the rest, it’s all that matters.
3. When you look into the past and compare it with the present: is the interest in Infernal War bigger after release of “Terrorfront” or newcomer “Redesekration”? Are there more offers of concerts, interview etc …?
I guess, the interest is a bit bigger, but nothing really changed. We played a few more gigs and I get many more interviews by that’s all. By the way, some of these interviews are so uninspired and stupid that I simply don’t answer them.
4. Your first full-value album „Terrorfront“ surely became rooted and have found a lot of favourers who wallow in the brutal style of IW. What about your own opinion of this piece?
I still think it’s a very good piece of violent intensity and unholy madness, but I prefer “Redesekration”. It’s simply more mature, but I’m really proud of “Terrofront”.
5. On „Terrorfront“ accede (for example against EP „Infernal SS“) a lot of solos, that are frequently really breakneck and maltreat the strings in the monstrous ways. Did you feel a need of putting it or did it grow up spontaneously?
It grew up spontaneously and naturally. Solos are an inseparable part of our music.
6. I would stay on “Terrorfront” (it’s related with “Redesekration” too). For the first time in history of the band you have used pushing, aggressive and pure sound, that made all instruments excel. Why this change (a very good change in my opinion)? And what do you think is the main difference between the origins and the present of IW?
We always wanted to sound this way, but we managed to achieve it with “Terrofront”. First releases of Infernal War were recorded in half-professional home studio at Stormblast’s house. Our first professional studio work was “Explosion” split CD. There wasn’t any change in our vision of Infernal War’s sound. Our old releases had less powerful sound due to financial matters.
7. Infernal War makes an extreme music in the deepest mean of the word. It’s production has to be very instrumentally difficult. I dare say you’re one of the most technical and fastest bands in the black metal underground. So I have to ask: How long have you been playing and how often do you practice playing your instruments?
All instrumentalists in Infernal War have been playing their instruments for a dozen or so years. As far as I know, they all practice their instruments systematically.
8. The basis of every well functional band is a regular trying, so what is your creative trial like?
You might be surprised, but we rehearse very rarely. So far, we have had only 3-4 rehearsals this year. We live in different cities, some of us reside abroad…
9. What about Infernal War and concerts? Do you like to peddle the death live? The production of your music on the stage has to be exacting but withal filling. Poland is well known for its superior delamination of concerts and for the support of underground…And how did you enjoy your recent gig in Brno?
Yes, we like playing live and I think we are really violent live act. The whole festival in Brno was great in my opinion. I really enjoyed it and would like to play there again. Greetings to the organizers!
10. You recorded a split with czech “Inferno” and you have often collective concerts. What is your relation with this band like? Are you friends or do you cooperate purely professionally?
We recorded a split EP with Inferno because we know, respect and like those guys. They are good drunkards, by the way. Just like us.
11. We can feel a pure aggression and an ever burning hate in your music. What makes you to be like this? Is it enough to have a walk in the streets, look at the crowd and you’re hung-up immediately? ;-)
We are hateful people and so is our music. We have two main sources of inspiration – humanity (indirect, especially the pathetic population of today’s world and the modern society) and the ancient evil that dwells in the heart of man (direct). Hatred comes from everywhere.
12. Satanism can be seen in many ways … It’s clear that it’s the most frequent topic of lyrics not only in black metal. Some use it as a manifest against ambient world, some as a personal believe or as a demonology. How is this theme understood by you?
Death worship.
13. Of course I have to ask about UG „scene“ in Poland. It’s impressive, how many bands are born there and quite good-class too … I believe it’s still the divide of 5 pieces of shit against one listenable group, but still … What do you think, what is the reason of nascency such a huge invention of creating black metal music in Poland?
To be honest, I don’t see many respectable black metal bands in Poland. Of course, there are some great black metal bands, some other great satanic metal acts and a few heathen hordes, but that’s all. However, Polish scene gathers many devoted, extreme and violent individuals that make it strong.
14. Nowadays is Infernal War a politically-distensioned band, but though … Do you have any problems with leftist extremists?
No, we don’t. These red worms can do nothing.
15. Purely hypotetically now … If you would write your 5 basic laws, how would they read?
I had better not answer this question honesty… Guess why hehe.
16. "IW supports death..." What does the death mean for you? And whose death would you welcomed eventually, if you’d have the power?
99,99% of world’s population, but the death of the whole universe would be even better. What does death mean to me? Demise.
17. Do you vote? And if it’s not too personal, for who?
Yes, I do, but usually I vote “against” rather than “for”. However, I will never vote for catholic worms or leftist cocksuckers.
18. And lastly… you had your hair done some time ago. Have you already got used to or do you shed a nostalgic tear sometimes? Hehe …
Heh, I very quick got used to my new haircut, hehe. I like it now, but I consider growing hair once again in the future.
19. Thank you for the interview and in behalf of Mortem I wish you a lot of success. We hope you’ll slaughter your listeners here, in Czech Republic. If you want to throw in something, it’s yours.
Thanks for your interest. Praise Death & Chaos! Hail Satan!
