1. Greetings to Sweden. How is the band doing recently and what are doing now? Are you working on something?

Always, on some level.

2. Two years ago you official released two demos. Why wasn’t "Far Beyond" released as the debut album? After all it was quite long and it had 10 songs which isn’t ordinary for demos. Have you felt that it isn’t enough or you weren’t satisfied with production?

Those who have heard it knows it consist of two parts: the first demo, FUNERAL VOICES, and additional material which was, recorded about 6 months later. The additional material had, thanks to the imbecile producer, a sound we are not fond of. After all - FAR BEYOND was always to be considered a re-release of the FUNERAL VOICES-demo and not as Demo #2.

3. Well after two years debut album "The Invocation of Demise" is out! What can you tell to someone who has not heard it? On what can fans and new listeners look forward to?

I don't really know what to mention, I prefer if the listener create their own opinion about our work, both musically and lyrically. I honestly cannot stand those who raise their own material to the skies.


4. Valkyrja is your first project or have you played in some other band before? I..m asking because the seriousnes and elaboration of your music even that the band is quite young.

First of all - if people are focusing on age or similar, they're focusing on the wrong thing. The limitations of others are not our limitations, what and why we create is really no one else’s business. The final result is what you are delivered - no more, no less.

VALKYRJA is not the first project for some of its members - but it is lead by spirit and dedication from day one, which made the path to where we are now possible. The previous projects would not have reached these trails and those who lie before us.

5. I am refering to elaboration of music. Melodies and song structure reminded me the new work of Watain which was total sidetrack from their usual music, nevertheless technique is quite similar to that in Valkyrja (no offense I don..t want to compare both bands)...Have you planned album which won..t be primitive, but it would still be interesting for more exacting fans, or dirt liking critics?

This album was ready to be recorded early 2006, over a year before the release of the latest WATAIN album; so if similar structures are found it's a mere coincidence.

What goes for the future audio - we'll have to wait and see. As mentioned before: we'll keep on working as long as the music serves our causes, when we don't find the same satisfaction in the activities we'll put this band to death. "The Invocation of Demise" could be the first in a series of albums, but it might just as well be the only full length released

6. By the way, what do you think about new Watain’s album?

7. What is the influence for your lyrics and music? Negativity and death can be heard but also felt from the album? Is the transfering of this moods a mirror of your souls or you simply wanted to release albums sounding like this?

The topic is in itself is something that enthrill me. The deconstructive powers and alike is pretty much the root of the material in its whole. But it would be simple to limit oneself to place the lyrical creations to one specific factor; there are more levels and depths, such as longing, frustration, the wish to build new upon scorched earth, to mention a few. It is to explore and make own opinion of. I know what it means to me and that's the importance, I can only speak from my own being since I do not expect others to adapt the words the same way I do, that would be narrow-minded. What we didn't know was what the final result would sound like, but I can say, with all honesty, it's very representative so I consider it a success (for what it's worth).

8. Concerning the debut album...How long did you take you to compose and record it? Have you had any problems? Do you had all material prepared or you worked it off in studio?

The material is pretty much a good catalogue of VALKYRJA, from day of birth to present time. The recording process took about 1½ week, thanks to Tore Sterna’s peerless efforts.


9. Are you preparing some live performaces or will you stay only as a studio band?

We are a live band, not so much in the present day though. We'll see if will increase.

.10. In present days your official web site in in reconstruction. Are you programming your site alone or you left the work to proffesionals? I guess that it will be interestingly worked out. I am expecting some design delicasy. Am I right?

The main reason to put it on hold is because we didn't have the time to keep it updated. New design will be done later on when time allow me.

11. Do you have some favourite place where you come to drain inspiration?

The inner sanctuary is indeed unsurpassed.

12. It..s nice to see that the Swedens flag are holding the young bands like Mortuus, IXXI and Valkyrja. I can just wish you alot of wet groupies and alot of tortured guitar strings. Cheers!
