Interview with Farsot

1. Good evening neighbours, Hails to you!
I´m quite ashamed, I heard all your demos including debut album "III" but i still don´t have a clue who are you. I would be grateful if you introduce yourself slightly (personally I don´t like this kind of question).

Farsot were founded in 1999 to set their personal intentions into music. After some changes the line up got complete in 2003. After this the first demo, 042103freitod, was recorded and released in April 2004. The following two years were spent in the rehearsal room for the works on the concept-album „IIII“. In Summer '06 the song writing was finished and the album got recorded and produced by V. Santura (Dark Fortress) at the Crypt. Finally, in 2007, Farsot signed on Lupus Lounge.

2. I quite fear to classify your music, because I don´t want to cause some harm. Can I ask you then? Well who knows the child better than it´s father?

There's no need to classify our music anyway. If you want so, call it black metal. Not more, not less. That's the musical direction, that describes it the best. Any additional classification like „suicidal“ or „traditional“, „occult“ or „avantgarde“ don't match in each case, because we try to keep our music manifoldly and multifaceted.

3. Lately new Emo phenomenon hatched in our commercial society. Every boy now kills kiittens, getting soo sad etc. Fans of this style are declaring that their music is about emotions and feelings. I think so too. And I´m not Emo. I thought how you manage to put together those fine melancholic melodies with extreme sounding riffs. I still think that the music is not about fun but about feeling.

What should we say … yes. Our music is influenced by feelings. The personal feelings of each person who stands behind Farsot. But it's not just feelings. It's all experience from every situation the life confronts somebody with. That's what we enter to our songs and that's what makes them this authentic. to regain.

4. Listening to your songs is higly relaxating almost meditating. I can imagine pictures of nature, peace and serenity. Even with the fact that BM was meant to be something else. What feelings shows up to you during listening?

The primary meaning of this album was to show up the deep emotions, which appear on the loss of a person standing nearby. Hate, fear, a sober view on the death itself and the grief which imprisons ones mind. There wasn't a real „natural“ intense in the background like e.g. in Negura Bunget's music.

5. Are you thinking about playing live?

In fact we do. In late January we will play a tour with Negura Bunget and The Vision Bleak while in July is planned a show on the Hells Pleasure open air. We 're also still open for gig offerings.

6. What´s the role of religion or occultism in your music?

None. Our intense is not of any religious nature but of a pure emotional kind.

7. Sometimes I´m excited with the use of small ambient segments. You even used a beatiful woman voice. Have you decided in advance to use a female vocals on your album?

It was more spontaneous, no planned component. It's the part from a chorale which fits musically and thematical exactly to our concept.

8. When you enter Rehearsal room or podium, do you have some special rituals? I know a musician who has to eat a banana before playing his guitar. It might sound crazy but every time I ask I´m getting more interesting answers.

We arrive, drink some beer, build up our equipment, plug in our cables and start playing. If you want to call it a ritual … please do so. ;)

9. Does some person or band exists that influenced your life-stance, music or acting?

Not really, no. It's our whole environement, that shaped us anyway. Each thing that happened, each conversation or contact we had took part on our development as persons, as individuals.

10. What the abtraction means to you? Man can imagine anything if looking on abstract art. Your presentation is quite abstract with your pseudonyms, cover arts...Am I right?

Yes, you are. Abstraction lets much space to interpret the artwork and the meaning behind it. It supports the music and the atmosphere in it's impact.

11. What do you think about ballads? Has a german literature influence on your music?

We like some very few things in the german literature but we are not that literature addicts at all. So it does not have any influences on our musical development.

12. Do you feel as patriots? Fact that you use your native language insted of popular english shows something. I think that it is Ok.

Not patriotic feelings are responsible for our use of the german language on our album. It's more the enhanced amount intense we can interfere by using our mothertongue for our lyrics. It gives the sound of the voice a hard, cold and abrasive tone. After all there is no predefinition for the explicit use of german words. To be straight: We currently experiment with english vocals.

13. Do you recall your childhood? Which toy you liked most?

Let me think … oh, yes! I remember! It was the „my own nuclear rocket“-construction kit, which I got on my 5th birthday. No, let's get serious … our childhood lies back many years now and is definitely none of our listeners business.

14. Now it is your turn, if there is something your want to write...go on ;-)

No more words. They'd bore you.

15. All my questions are asked, I would like to thank your for the time spent. I wish you many musical succeses!

Thanks for the wishes and the interview. Sorry for the time we took.
