Interview with Tymah

1. I greet you, Dim! It´s a long time when we plan this interview, so I´m glad, that finally can be realised. Album was produced, your work then kept away to ruin... With how public acceptance you experiance, did people value your work?

I don't know anything about what is the reaction of the audience to this album, and I don't really care. I'm curious to know only the oppinion of some of my few close friends, whom I acknowledge and whose oppinion is interesting to me.

2. Did you move by yourself cease of Tymah? Out of doupt the one grow up within two years, a lot of visions gets solid ways and notions about music could discern from those recent. In which way do you see biggest change on new album?

I have been developing a lot in both spiritual and phisical/technical ways. We were experimenting with the sound and as a result of this the new album sounds just as I imagined it. I spent a lot of time thinking about the construction of this album, and this is aspect makes it different comparing to "Transylvanian Dreams". The debut album was more spontaneous, more like a sequence of dreams/visions. This one is a much more "conscious" work. It was still, of coarse, created under the effect of evil powers, but as I developed in the past few years, I could also use a bit more of my knowledge.

3. I want mentioned sound from my point of view... That was sporadically unattractive for me on the debut, guitars melt with drums and globally I´m evidently supporter of another cease. The novelty is more improved in this way and exceed in melody, on which you evidently have matter on... Do you agree? If no, easily swept me...

At the time of the recording of "Transylvanian Dreams" we, of coarse, tried to reach the best and the most pertinent sound possible. The same was done in this case, but we spent more time with it, I think, and the technical equipment was much better. However, we don't aim at emphasizing the bass or the drums. The result totally satisfies me, so I think it was well done. I don't know if it's possible to improve this sound for the third album. If it is, we'll make it, if this is the best we can have, we'll keep it.

4. How many people was partook on this album? Are you who have done most of album? Did you suit this kind of work or are you free to cooperate with other musicians...

The drums are done by Gelal. Shadow plays the bass. I'm writing both the lyrics and the music. The main musical material is in the guitars, the bass plays almost the same, fulfilling the sound with a lower tone. The drums are also following the guitars, which makes it more powerful. I create all the music and lyrics alone, this is what seems to be natural to me.

5. In which mood did you compose material? Somewhere alone or how it came to you, that you was huged by Muse along the evenings? Have you got something special, what you prefer in composing of music? Do you trust, that style of writing has effect on general cease, even though you have clear what you want to do...

I created these songs while I was alone, at night, or in the evenings. I'm sure, one should create the best circumstances for a better result. A black room with appropriate symbols had an effect strong enough to make the Demons come through a hole in this dimension. I think a kind of a trance is needed in order to keep all what is human and all life at a distance, and to be able to get in touch with Darkness.

6. Could you now refer about content of album, about what are texts declaring, by what you let inspire with, whether has album something conceptional, etc...?

The content is formulated in the title: Conversations with Satan. This is what the lyrics are. Each is a piece of a conversation with Satan. They make sense seperately, as well as if you read them one after the other they make the concept clear. I imagine these seven track as seven gates, each leading you even deeper into yourself.

This is an internal processes on the way to hell. It might be imagined as an uninterrupted procession or as a periodical internal experience. It doesn't matter. Satan - this is the essence of the lyrics. Definitely, Satan is not the one goatheaded with horns. But Darkness and Evilness from beyond. Human language just tries to name this, but it isn't able to describe at all.

I'm working on the translation of the lyrics, but it's going quite slow as I'm aproaching this issue in a maximalistic way. Unfortunatelly, the English version is not at the same level as the original Hungarian lyrics. The rythm of the poems and the rhyme play an important role. The translation unfortunately lost this... Anyway, I think it will be still enough for those who can understand them.

7. I´d say, even despite, that you can speak English well, you continue to protect from Engish in texts. Why? Did mother tongue affording you better formulation or did English accrue you more worldwide or more commercial?

First, I should say that Russian is my mother language, but I speak Hungarian just as well. I find English a very simple language, which is perfect for international communication, but is not enough for me. The old English language used in the literature is a bit better, and perhaps I would use it if I could speak it well enough, but I can't. I find Hungarian very interesting, both in its sound and its varied vocabulary.

8. Did you train a lot, as far as voice goes? Sporadically I wouldn´t recognize, that under microfone is woman, hehe... And globally, your voice exposure is better from first album, you use it superior and it sound more clarity.

The vocals are making the lyrics hearable, and you should feel each word as you hear it, even if you don't understand that language. When screaming, it's not easy to emphasize upon words and to form the sentences. I want the vocals to be evil and dark, powerful and painful. I think this is important, so I try to do my best.

9. Do you feel, that Tymah is group which is discused in your country, but also in whole world, new album had been expectin and it will be valued broadly too...? How it is feeling? Realize, that somewhere over 1000 km is someone, who is listening your music up to skyes...or reversely someone, who gossip it?

I know only the oppinion of my close friends. I don't know what people think generally of Tymah, I can just guess. I have no idea how many people talk about Tymah in hungary, or abroad. But I don't really care. However, it makes me a bit annoyed when I realise that with the help of the internet a great bunch of assholes get to know Tymah... and not only listen to my music, but also make some fucking myspace shit... Of coarse, this is not more but annyoing, because it does not change anything, Tymah remains Tymah, whatever shit is happening at the internet.

10. Similiar question: Are you the one who is opened to communication with fans during the concert or just prefer to have a chat in pub? I know, many musicians are reserved, however others in contrast are so open, that one feels that even genius people are ordinary ones :-).

Well, it's quite simple. Since we don't have any gigs I don't get in touch with any fans (...if there are such, hehe..), and since I don't go to pubs I don't have to chat with anybody at all. There are few persons with whom it would be interesting to have a conversation, but they are really far away, so I'm not sure if this conversation will ever come true.

11. But let´s come back to music of Tymah. During the composing of „Loquitur Cum Alqo Sathanas“ did you feel some need to prove something to yourself? Means to get out from your brain and hands the best you can? Is the novelty album personal one?

Tymah is personal in general, not only the 2nd album. It reflects my emotions, Darkness, Satan, Death... - the way I see it. Tymah is a mirror. It reflects what I really am. Whoever is listening, it reflects the listener. Perhaps this is the reason why different people see one band differently. There is no other reason for me to make material if not to make it better than the previous works. A perfect work should make you feel that it has never been created but it just is, without any borders of time or space, without a beginning or an end to come. I still have a lot to improve.

12. Are you still fascinated by mountains and nature in general? Why do you think, that the fascination by trees, meadows or mountains is so expanded? In black metal we can find this motive more and more common, however only few ones are honest in that feeling, according to me and if any bug touches him,the scream will start, heh...

I'm not fascinated by nature itself. Nature itself is not evil or dark. Nature is not equal with Satan. Not every landscape is dark. There are places where the dark powers are present. Nature is only a place where you might open and strengthen your inner-self, where you can find some solitude to bring to the surface everything what is in the depths. When I look into the darkness of the pineforests in Transylvania, I see Satan. When I feel as the night's cold creep into the valley, I feel Satan. When I listen to the silence in the middle of the night, I hear Satan. It is not the pines what I look at, but at the Darkness beyond. Satan is in me, and is around me. It is something dark and evil, not from this world.

Why do so many bands write about nature? Well, because it is already "a ticklish situation" to write about Satanism for these fashion bands. Nature is the only thing what is left, as it is still has something in common with Black Metal but also is acceptable for the society, if somebody writes about nature.

13. After long arranging the interview could finaly happen and so thank you lot for it. I wish you best of luck for your novelty. Last lines are usually leave for the interviewed. So....they are yours. Best of luck.

Ave Sathanas!!!!!!
