Interview with Abigor (Classic interviews)

1. It´s great to welcome ABIGOR in Mortem zine´s inteview, how are you these days? Floods have moved to Austria, it´s sick, we hope it will not influence our interview haha.

ABIGOR is back, so I am fine at the moment...

2. My next question is logically focused on the fact that your´re back again.. it is good news for your fans! How the matters were going before Abigor was formed again - now he´s ready to attack gates of heaven in full armor? Who gave the first impulse?

I worked on alot of new ideas and songs for ST.LUCIFER, at least it all turned out more and more "ABIGOR like", so I decided to restart ABIGOR instead of trying something new which at least sounds similiar to ABIGOR, you know?! Some might think it's a sell-out, but it's fucking not. I don't have any rights to our old material, it's all on NAPALM they do what they want, re-releases on vinyl, that 2 for 1 price CD shit, I don't get any $.

It's a rebirth caused by the need of creating something new with ABIGOR on the same mental attitudes, just a new area in the history of ABIGOR.

3. Tell us about present line-up, please. Is it definitive.. or could we expect some more changes?

Currently it's fix, maybe Thomas will join the band again, which I would appreciate alot, time will tell.

4. Let´s speak about reasons of your split back in 2003? May be you wouldn´t speak about it, but.

I was pissed by the scene, out of ideas, tiered of all the problems I had withe line-up and the planned recording of the album, because NAPALM wouldn't pay the studio I'd like to use and shit like that, but what can I say, it's over, this chapter is closed for me.

5. Full of powers. What will you prepare for listeners? Do you have any plans already prepared?

Well, there're alot of new songs finished, currently we're rehearsing for the recording of a 5 track promo-CD we'll hopefully release in late summer this year, after that we'll play some gigs as well. That's it so far, finally it depends on the labels that show interest in the band how it all comes along later this year...

6. Are you under any stress or pressure? Lots of people await high-quality product of Abigor, it´s heavy responsibility.. and what is more, it´s comeback. It will not be easy.

Not at all, I've no deal with ABIGOR, nor do I really care what people expect of me and ABIGOR, this times are over... We'll of course put all our effort in the band and a high quality release. It'll be typical but also non-typical, I am not bounded to anything, I'll try to cover a real broad spectrum of music with the "new" ABIGOR, of course it'll be fast, harsh and technical, but don't expect a rise or remake of the old albums, it's ABIGOR 2006!

7. Where does your music go now? In the same tracks as known Abigor style? Or have your musically feelings changed during the time.?

As I said, you'll know "this is ABIGOR" but it'll be of course differnt, it's my goal to step forward not just stepping on one point!

8. Looking back to history of Abigor - what are you most proud of and for what you don´t remeber with joy? Which Abigor´s album is your favourite one and pivotal in certain sense?

Hard to say, nor do I really care about it. I am proud of every album, but Opus IV and Apokalpyse are still my favourite records.

9. When Abigor was sleeping, what were your musical activities, Peter? Unfortunately I can´t see nothing about your projects Heidenreich, Hellbound and St. Lucifer...

HEIDENREICH is dead since ages. With HELLBOUND, MILLENIUM METAL MUSIC released a Split-CD in 2003 with AMESTIGON, which is already sold out, and within the next months a split-7" HELLBOUND / ENSAMHET will be released through DIE UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN EDITIONS.

ST.LUCIFER is laid on ice, currently ABIGOR is important, I don't have any plans for the rest.

Another thing, HELLBOUND is NOT a project of mine, it's an invidual band I am the guitarist of.

10. Have you observed progress on Austrian BM scene in last years? What is tle greatest benefit of there?

I am not involved in the scene anymore, I am in contact with alot of people who're in well known bands, but our contact is more based on "private" things then just music...

But I guess BELPHEGOR and ASMODEUS bring alot for the status of Austrians extreme Metal scene for example...

11. Now you refuse to play live events, don´t you miss gigs? What is direct confrontation with fans to you..?

As said, I guess we'll play gigs in the upcoming future...

12. How about your label? Is it clear now, or not?

ABIGOR is unsigned at the moment.

13. During the years you have recorded many releases - can we find any relationship between them? And is there any concept behind single records, or does every song live ´its own life´?

There's no concept between the releases, each album is a seperate chapter, each song it's invididual story.

14. Do you usually have any musical concept when you´re starting writings for the new release, or does it change and grow during its process?

I don't have any plan, I've ideas or not, that's it,. I don't a special feeling, mood or whatever, it's an instinct that starts the creation of the song.

15. What´s your opinion on present public events in France (for ex)? Could you imagine yourself suddenly in the middle of that all shit? When your estates and life would be in exposure?

I don't care about it, I am not an social or political interested person...

16. Which music do you prefer in your ´civil´ life? Do you listen only to brutal music or do you need to relax while something kind is playing?

I listen 90% to Metal, but I won't talk about my "civil" life at all... Relaxing? What the fuck is that, guess a waste of time!

17. What´s your opinion on bands, including political themes into music? They hide racial hate under their words. Can you say that music and lyric are both the same strong parts of whole unit?

Of course, music and lyrics should create some kind of sonor unity, but political themes has nothing to do with the spirit of Black Metal in my opinion.

18. I am glad of making this interview and as I say. we nearly don´t hoped! Let Abigor attacks in much greater power than before! We are sending hallos from Czech Rep. and last words are yours..

Thanx for your support and interesst in the new ABIGOR! Time has come to set the world a fire!
